... I still prefer the original one of this remarkable scene though. Yet, this is such a legendary battle of the strongest Samurais at the end of Samurai-era!
Hazime Saitou is an anime character as well as a real historical figure (Only one survivor of Shinsen-gumi). Shinsen-gumi is an interesting militia on Shogunate side (E.g. I am also interested in Toshizo Hijikata who joined the third division of Ezo republic lead by my hero Takeaki Enomoto).
Hajime Saitou is actually a truly existed figure in the real world history! There was only one survivor of Shinsen-gumi as all the other officially known members died. Therefore, to introduce a former Shinsen-gumi in the fiction, to keep the historical consistency, Saito is only the figure we can use. Inevitably, there were some unmatches of his real characters. But, Rurouni Kenshin still really well refers to his background histories well.
