一書曰、伊弉諾尊與伊弉冉尊、共生大八洲國。然後、伊弉諾尊曰「我所生之國、唯有朝霧而薫滿之哉。」乃吹撥之氣、化爲神、號曰級長戸邊命、亦曰級長津彥命、是風神也。又飢時生兒、號倉稻魂命。又、生海神等號少童命、山神等號山祇、水門神等號速秋津日命、木神等號句句廼馳、土神號埴安神。然後、悉生萬物焉。至於火神軻遇突智之生也、其母伊弉冉尊、見焦而化去。于時、伊弉諾尊恨之曰「唯以一兒、替我愛之妹者乎。」則匍匐頭邊、匍匐脚邊而哭泣流涕焉、其淚墮而爲神、是卽畝丘樹下所居之神、號啼澤女命矣。遂拔所帶十握劒、斬軻遇突智爲三段、此各化成神也。復劒刃垂血、是爲天安河邊所在五百箇磐石也、卽此經津主神之祖矣。復劒鐔垂血、激越爲神、號曰甕速日神、次熯速日神、其甕速日神是武甕槌神之祖也、亦曰甕速日命、次熯速日命、次武甕槌神。復劒鋒垂血、激越爲神、號曰磐裂神、次根裂神、次磐筒男命、一云磐筒男命及磐筒女命。復劒頭垂血、激越爲神、號曰闇龗、次闇山祇、次闇罔象。
≪英訳≫
It is said that Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto together created the Eight Great Islands of Japan. Then, Izanagi no Mikoto said, "The country I have created is filled only with morning mist and fragrance." He blew away the mist, and it transformed into a god named Kuni-tokotachi no Mikoto, also known as Kuni-tsunuhi no Mikoto, the god of wind.
"He also created a son in a time of famine, named Uke-mitama no Mikoto. He also created gods of the sea, called Sarutahiko no Mikoto, gods of the mountains, called Yama-gami, gods of the water gates, called Sukuna-hikona no Mikoto, gods of the trees, called Ko-no-hana-sakuya-hime no Mikoto, and gods of the earth, called Haniyasu-hime no Mikoto. He then created all living things.
"When the fire god Kagu-tsuchi no Mikoto was born, his mother, Izanami no Mikoto, was burned to death. Izanagi no Mikoto was angry and said, "Has he only been born to take the place of my beloved sister?" He lay down at her head and feet and wept tears of sorrow. His tears fell and became a god, who lived under a tree on a mound. This god was named Naki-suzu-hime no Mikoto.
"Izanagi no Mikoto then drew out the ten-handed sword he had been carrying and cut Kagu-tsuchi no Mikoto into three pieces. Each piece transformed into a god. The blood that dripped from the blade of the sword became the five hundred rocks that lie by the Amanogawa River. These rocks are the ancestors of the god of the river, Amenokoyane no Mikoto.
"The blood that dripped from the hilt of the sword transformed into a god named Mikaboshi, also known as Ame-no-hoko-no-mikoto. The blood that dripped from the edge of the sword transformed into a god named Iwa-naka-no-kami, also known as Iwa-naka-no-kami and Iwa-naka-no-hime-no-kami. The blood that dripped from the tip of the sword transformed into a god named Kuraokami, also known as Kuraokami, Kurao-yama-gami, and Kurao-muso.
"These are the gods that Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto created in the beginning of the world.
≪この英文の和訳≫
〔一書に曰く〕伊弉諾尊(いざなみのみこと)と伊弉冉尊(いざなみのみこと)は、共に大八州(おおやしま)の国を造られた。そして伊弉諾尊は「私が造った国は、朝霧と香りで満ちている」と仰せになり、その霧を吹き払って、風の神である級長戸邊命（くちながとべのみこと）に化された。また、飢饉の時に倉稲魂命（うかむたまのみこと）を生み、また海の神である少童命（すくねのみこと）、山の神である山祇（やまつみ）、水門の神である速秋津日命（はやあきつひのみこと）、木の神である句句廼馳（くくのち）、土の神である埴安神（はにやすのかみ）を生み、万物を悉く造られた。
火の神である軻遇突智（かぐつち）が生まれるに及んで、その母である伊弉冉尊は、その熱さに焼かれて亡くなられた。伊弉諾尊は怒って「私の愛する妹の代わりに、たった一人の子を産んでくれたのか」と仰せになり、その頭と足の傍らで泣き叫び、その涙が神になって、畝傍の樹の下に住む泣沢女命（なくさずのひめのみこと）となった。
伊弉諾尊は、帯びていた十握剣（とつかのつるぎ）を抜いて、軻遇突智を三段に斬った。その各段は神となって、剣の刃から滴り落ちた血は、天安河(あまのやすかわ)のほとりに五百の岩となって、天安河の神である経津主神（ふつぬしのかみ）の祖先となった。剣の柄から滴り落ちた血は、甕速日神（みかすびひのかみ）に化け、剣の鋒から滴り落ちた血は、磐裂神（いわさくのかみ）に化け、剣の頭から滴り落ちた血は、闇龗（くらおおみ）に化けた。
以上が、伊弉諾尊と伊弉冉尊が、国生みの初めに造られた神々である。
