高校生ら競う「国際科学オリンピック」国内各地で開催へ
世界の高校生などが数学や物理などの分野で高度な知識を競う「国際科学オリンピック」が、ことしから２０２３年にかけて国内の各地で開かれることになりました。
国際科学オリンピックは毎年世界で開かれていて、各国の高校生などが数学や物理、化学など７つの分野で筆記試験や実験に臨むほか、参加者どうしの交流会も開かれます。
この大会がことしから２０２３年にかけて、地学と地理を除く５つの分野で国内の各地で開かれることになりました。
具体的には、ことし９月に茨城県で情報分野の大会が開かれるのをはじめ、２０２０年８月に長崎県で生物学、２０２１年７月に大阪府で化学、まだ場所は決まっていませんが２０２２年夏に物理、２０２３年７月に数学の大会がそれぞれ開かれます。
大会は２０２０年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピックに合わせて誘致されたということで、国際科学オリンピックを推進している科学技術振興機構は「中国や韓国などは数万人が選考に参加するのに対して日本の参加者は最も多い化学でも４０００人ほどなので、中学生、高校生たちにぜひ挑戦してほしい」と参加を呼びかけています
