この呼びかけは、東京 大田区の首都高速道路の平和島パーキングエリアで行われ、警視庁の警察官が休憩中のドライバーなどに「野蛮な運転は許さない」などと書かれたチラシを配って注意を呼びかけました。
いわゆる「あおり運転」は、車間距離不保持として道路交通法違反となり、去年１年間に全国で７６２５件が検挙されています。
警視庁は、特に高速道路での前の車をあおるような運転は重大な事故につながるおそれがあるとして、帰省や旅行で車に乗る機会が多くなるこれからの時期に、啓発活動や取締りを強化することにしています。
仕事で運転している途中に、後ろからあおられた経験があるという５０代の男性は「高速道路を走っているとたまにあおられる。運転に集中できないし迷惑だと感じている」と話していました。
警視庁交通総務課の金子賢司交通安全担当管理官は「危険な運転は絶対にやめほしい」と話していました。
