Users of generative AI, such as the ChatGPT tool are rapidly increasing around the world.
Generative AI learns from vast amounts of data on the internet and creates materials in response to users’ questions and instructions.
While AI is expected to increase corporate productivity, there are also deep concerns about various adverse effects.
The risk of spreading false information, copyright infringements and the leakage of users’ personal information may occur.
And it has been pointed out that the overuse of AI may reduce human thinking power.
On April 30 in TAKASAKI, G7 digital ministers issued the joint statement.
They agreed G7 should adopt "risk-based" regulation on AI (artificial intelligence).
The joint statement called for the promotion of “responsible AI.”
It is significant that the G7 countries have shared their awareness of the risks arising from the rapidly growing use of AI.
But some experts and journalists say,
as the world becomes increasingly wary of AI, Japan may be overly optimistic.
Because the Japanese government has always indicated that it intends to actively use AI.
AI will also be on the agenda at the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
I wonder if Japan could take the lead in establishing appropriate rules on AI .
