五月十四日は 『ゴイシ』の日 ⚪️ ⚫️

　語呂合わせで、五月十四日は碁石の日です。　
　それに合わせて新緑の美しい伊勢神宮の参道にある『おかげ横丁』で『おかげ杯』が開催されていましたがコロナ禍の為に
　残念ながら中止になってしまいました。

　碁石の最高峰は『本ハマグリの国産』　日本産のハマグリは、今は殆ど見つけられないので貴重で大変、高価です。
　今はハマグリ碁石はメキシコからハマグリを輸入して機械と手作業で碁石は製作されます。
　　
　宮崎県日向市にある黒木碁石店を訪ねた時の写真を参考に碁石を作る工程を見て下さい。

　① 大きなハマグリから石のサイズを抜き取る

正倉院の碁盤と碁石

　昨夜、テレビで正倉院の宝物を紹介していました。
　再放送だったようです。
　驚いたのは最近の研究で納められている８割が国産のようだと。。
　今までは、殆どがシルクロードを通って日本に辿り着いたもの、中国、韓国などからの貢物などと紹介されていました。
　有名な碁盤と碁石は百済かららしい。
　　この巣籠もり生活で、片付けをしていますが丁度、数日前に２００5年秋の第５７回正倉院展で
　１２年ぶりに展示された有名な碁盤が展示され、観に行った時のカタログ、グッツが出てきました。

　ブックカバーチャレンジ　２日目
　　文化庁が毎年、日本の文化担う、各分野に専門家を世界に１ヶ月以上、１年以内の長期でイベント、指導する企画です。
　囲碁界からも今までに５名、世界で囲碁普及をしてます。
　第一号であった私は欧州を拠点に囲碁指導をしました。　
　文化庁から予算を頂き海外に出ると言うことは国内では文化庁管轄、外に出れば当然、外務省の大使館、総領事館などにお世話になります。
　　両方のお役所のシステムの違いもあり、外国で全て自力で普及活動をする文化交流使は、それなりの苦労がありました。
　そんな経験を気持ちよく聞いて下さったのが当時、外務省の文化交流担当の門司健次郎さん。後にイラク、カタール、カナダの大使になられ
　今なお、この度のブックカバーチャレンジに気さくにお声をかけて下さったのです。
　
　２日目に紹介する本は、私にとって本当に大事な本です。
　『西行花伝』　辻邦生著　　(１９９５年　谷崎潤一郎賞)
　内容はタイトルそのものです。
　ここで私が何に感動し、思ったのかは、これから読まれる方々に為に書きません。
　著者の経歴を見て驚くことは東京で生まれ名古屋、東京(赤坂)そして大学時代を松本で過ごし、後にフランス・パリに留学。
　私が今までに居たところが多いのです！

Book Cover Challenge Day 2

Every year, the Agency for Cultural Affairs selects experts in various fields of Japanese culture to be Cultural Ambassadors, to teach and spread the culture in the world for a period of 1 month to a year.
5 professionals from the Go world to date have been selected.
As the first one, I taught Go with my base in Europe.
Receiving a budget from the Agency for Cultural Affairs means that within Japan, we will be under the jurisdiction of the Agency of Cultural Affairs in Japan, and if you go abroad, you will be under the wings of the Embassy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General.
Due to the differences in the systems of both government offices, there were sometimes difficulties for the Cultural Ambassadors that were responsible for our own culture dissemination activities.
Mr Kenjiro Monji, who was in charge of cultural exchange at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the time, was incredibly helpful in hearing me out during these times.
He later served as the ambassador to Iraq, Qatar and Canada, he kindly asked me on this book cover challenge.

The book I'm introducing on the second day is really important to me.
"Saigyo Kaden" by Kunio Tsuji (1995 Junichiro Tanizaki Award)
The content is the title itself.
I will not write here what moved me or what I thought of, to leave a blank canvas for those who will read this.
What surprised me about the author's career, was that he was born in Tokyo, spent time in Nagoya, Tokyo (Akasaka) and university years in Matsumoto, and later studied in Paris, France. Many of these places are where I stayed as well!

ブックカバーチャレンジ １日目に投稿しました！ 川端康成の『名人』 Book Cover Challenge Day 1! "Master of Go" by Yasunari Kawabata

　文化交流使(文化庁)で欧州囲碁普及をしていた頃に大変お世話になった門司健次郎・元大使(イラク・カタール・カナダの全権大使であり　『酒サムライ』の称号を持つ)のお誘いで、ブックカバーチャレンジ１日目に投稿しました。
　　Facebook で７日間、自分の好きな本を紹介し、次の方にバトンしていく企画です。
　今日の本は川端康成の『名人』
　私にとっては世襲制の最後の本因坊秀哉に挑戦する若手棋士が師匠の若き日の木谷実先生ですから、ひとごとでは無い小説です。
　いつも残念に思うのは海外で１５ヶ国語にも訳され、多くの囲碁ファンに読まれているのに日本で、あまり読まれてい無い事です。
　　この小説は川端康成の観戦記のドキュメンタリータッチで進められてます。
　ところが、挑戦者の木谷先生だけが実名では無い。。。。
　　今まで私は自分の節目節目で数回読んでますが、その度に、色々と気づかされます。
　川端康成が１２年もかけて書いた小説です。それも珍しく登場人物は男性が主。
　色々な点で奥深く面白い作品です。
　碁を打たない方が読んでも、面白いです。
　　いつか、この『名人』をテーマに討論会をしてみたいです。
　　因みに今回のバトン者は弟子のアンティ・トルマネン初段。
　　彼が、どんな本を選ぶか楽しみです！

At the invitation of Mr Kenjiro Monji, a former Ambassador of Iraq, Qatar, and Canada, also with the title of "Sake Samurai", who was very supportive when I was promoting Go in Europe as a Cultural Ambassador, I posted the first day of the "book cover challenge".
During the challenge, you introduce your favourite book on Facebook for 7 days and tag the next person.

Today's book is Yasunari Kawabata's "Master of Go"
For me, the young player who challenges Honinbo Shusai (the last Honinbo of the hereditary system) is my teacher, Minoru Kitani sensei as a young man, so it is a novel that feels close to me.
It has been translated into 15 languages overseas and is read by many Go fans, but not as much in Japan sadly.
This novel is told as Kawabata Yasunari's spectator record, and has a documentary touch.
However, the challenger, Kitani sensei, is the only character in the novel whose name was changed from the real name...

Until now, I've read this novel several times at my milestones, but each time I notice new elements.
Yasunari Kawabata took 12 years to write this novel. It is also rare that the characters are mainly men.
It's a deeply interesting work in many ways.
I think it's an interesting book to read for non-Go players as well.
Someday, I would like to hold a discussion on the theme of this “Master of Go”.
