今年の雨季は大雨がないまま終わるのかなと思っていたら今週は断続的な豪雨。ケアンズ郊外各地で洪水が発生し、昨年末まで1年間住んだヨーキーズ・ノブは完全に孤立しています。しかし住民たちは仕事に行かなくても良いので朝から洪水パーティーを開いているに違いありません。子供たちがゴムボートで遊んでいる様子も報道されています。どうしてOZはこんなにも能天気になれるのでしょうか？(Photo by Cairns Post)

I had thought that the rainy season this year would finish without any heavy rain but there has been intermittent downpour this week. Floods had been happened in several different suburbs of Cairns and Yorkeys Knob where we lived for 1 year until the end of last year has been completely cut off. The residents must be enjoying flood party from morning as they don’t need to go to work. Media reports the pictures of children playing with gum boats. Why can OZs be so carefree abandoned?
