BBC Sherlock Series 3 : The Three Words (シャーロック・カンバーバッチ）

相変わらず夜・・・深夜にかけてシャーロックを読んだり観たりの日々。



ちょっと気付いたことや、面白かったことをメモ、メモ！！しています。







これ『バスカビルの犬』の一コマで、シャーロックが前夜ジョンに
『ボクには友達は一人もいない。』と言ったことを気にしてるシーン。



大人のジョンはちょっとムクれても、あまり気にする風もなく無関心に聞き流していると、
（柄にもなく）シャーロックはジョンの機嫌を気にしてるんです。（下心があって・・）

『ご機嫌とりなんか、君には似合わないよ。』と歩き去るジョン。
ジョンを追いかけて






『ボクには友達はいない。一人をのぞいては』







なんて言いながら、すぐその後でいつもの傲慢非礼なシャーロックに戻ってしまうのですが（笑）
好きなシーンのひとつです。






ところで先日『五つのオレンジの種』を読んでいて似たセリフに出会って、『お～！』でした。




嵐のようなひどい天気の夜、依頼人が訪ねてくるシーン。

表のベルが鳴ったように聞こえてワトスンが

Who could come tonight? Some friend of yours, perhaps?
(こんな夜にいったい誰だろう？君の友達のだれかだろうね？）

と言うとホームズは

Except yourself I have none.
（ボクは君の他には友達は一人もいないよ）

と答えているのね。何だか感激！小さな発見に嬉しくなってしまった^^。
『シャーロック』を観るまでは気付きもしなかったセリフでした。

さてと、シャーロック、シリーズ（3）の各エピソードのキーとなるスリー・ワーズが先月24日に発表されましたが、その直後からファン達の推理、憶測、珍説が出ていて面白いです。
シリーズ（２）のスリー・ワーズが『 Woman, Hound, Fall 』だったそうで、結構そのものズバリのヒントでした。だから次回シリーズも的のど真ん中をついたヒントの筈。
という訳で熱のこもったアイディァ合戦が繰り広げられてました。






自分でも自宅タンブラーの方に、思いついたことを書いたのですが、それって他の人が考えたのとほぼ同じ発想でした。





シャーロック、シリーズ（３）各エピソードのキーワードは：
RAT, WEDDING, BOWだそうですね。

ratは『ボスコム渓谷の惨劇』でチャールズ・マッカーシーが死ぬ間際に息子に呟いた、という『 … a rat 』しか思い浮かばないです。

The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes のintroductionの中で Mark Gatissが『A Rat』という謎の言葉に惹かれた、というような箇所がありましたし。

weddingは、やっぱりジョンがモースタン嬢と結婚しちゃう『四つの署名』

bowは『最後の挨拶』となるのでしょうか。ということはシリーズ（４）は無し、ですか。。。

３エピソードのうち一つは長編をベースにしているので、weddingは止められないのでしょうか。多くのファンの悲鳴が聞こえそうです；



てなことを書いたのですけど、その後に知ったファン・フォーラムでも同じような発想でした。
でもそこには、なるほどー、とか『そう来るかー』とか、飛んでる～とか色々あって面白かったので、ほんの少し声を拾ってきました。
みんなシャーロックがホント好きなのね！

まずRAT：


★　The Boscombe Valley mystery has an indirect reference to a rat.

RATは『ボスコム渓谷の惨劇』に間接的にRATが出てくるわ。





★　RAT. Quite possible "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", as not only there is an important reference to "Rat" in the story- which was short for Ballarat- but a secondary character, a fourteen-year-old daughter of the lodge- keeper is called Patience Moran. I am sure it was just coincidence/ forgetfulness on part of Conan Doyle, but can see Moftiss making a thing out of it and combining "Empty House" with "Boscombe Valley" to deal with Sebastian Moran.
I'll have to re-read "The Sign of Four" to recall the rat reference there.

RAT：『ボスコム渓谷』の可能性が高いと思う。『バララット』の最後『ラット』が重要ポイントだっただけでなく、もう一人大切な登場人物がいるわ。14歳の森番の娘よ。この子の父親はペイシェンス・モランと呼ばれている。これはドイルの偶然の一致か、忘れてしまっていたことかもしれないけど、モファットならこれを『空家の事件』と結びつけて話を作ると思う。
（なるほど！確かに森番の娘さんが出てきたけど、その名前と空家の事件、モラン大佐を結びつけるとは。細かい！）







WEDDINGは色々な説が出てました。




★　The "Wedding" could be that of John Watson & Mary Morstan, or not. There are quite a lot of marriages in the stories.

WEDDINGはワトスンとメアリー・モースタンとの結婚かもしれないし、そうじゃないかも。ホームズの物語には結婚話は沢山あるから。

　　

★　For me, clearly "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton".
Sherlock, becoming engaged to Milverton's housemaid to marry her.
Great story, great villain.

WEDDING　これは私にはハッキリ分かるわ。『犯人は二人　The Adenture of　Charles Augustus Milverton』よ。シャーロックはミルバートンの家政婦と婚約することになる。すごく面白い、すごい悪者の話だわ。




★　Wedding could be The Noble Bachelor where the groom disappears, leaving the bride at the altar. It could also be a reference to The Sign of the Four, where John meets Mary, and this leads to John's wedding. It could also reference The Illustrious Client, though A Scandal in Belgravia had a reference to this case in the meeting between Sherlock and the liaison.

There's also The Solitary Cyclist, which has a sham wedding in the end, as well as The Disappearance of Lady Frances Carfax, but it's more of a tangential reference to a wedding.

WEDDING:
これは花嫁を祭壇に残したまま、花婿が失踪する『独身の貴族』かもしれない。それに『四つの署名』もあるわね、ジョンが結婚することになる。『高名な依頼人』も関連があるけど、これは『ベルグレービアの醜聞』が関連していたわね。『美しき自転車乗り』も『フランシス・カーファックスの失踪』も結婚と関連があるわ。





★　"Wedding" is the most ambiguous one. There are tons of cases featuring near-weddings, unhappy weddings etc. And, of course, there is Sherlock's engagement in Augustut Milverton"

WEDDING:　これが一番ハッキリしない言葉だわ。結婚話は沢山あるし。『ミルバートン』や『四つの署名』ね。





★　Wedding - Sign of four? I initially thought "Milverton" but there was never a wedding.

Wedding-『四つの署名』かな。最初『ミルバートン』も考えたけど、結婚は結局なかったし。





★　WEDDING
For me, clearly "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton".
Sherlock, becoming engaged to Milverton's housemaid to marry her.
Great story, great villain.
If the writers are the SH geeks they suggest, I certainly belive "wedding' must be Sherlock, not Watson. Sherlocks 'engagement' in CAM would make a GREAT storyline.
　
Wedding:
やっぱり『ミルバートン』だわよ。シャーロックはミルバートンのメイドと結婚の約束をかわすのよ。すてきな話だし、大悪人だし。
シャーロック・マニアが指摘してるように、『結婚』はジョンではなく、シャーロック自身だと思う。
シャーロックの婚約！なんてステキ過ぎるお話し！だわ。





★　I don't think Wedding refers to John's wedding because the Blind Banker is loosely based on The Sign of the Four and it doesn't seem that Moftiss will reuse a story.
The small Chinese acrobat assassin is very reminiscent of the pigmy in The Sign of the Four, as is the motive and the locked room murder staging for both deaths.
To me, this is evidence that Wedding does not refer to The Sign of the Four or its outcome of John marrying Mary.


Wedding はジョンの結婚だとは思わないわ。なぜかというと、『Blind Banker』はゆる～い形で『四つの署名』をベースにしているじゃない？同じ話を使うことはなさそうだわ。

小柄な曲芸師が暗殺者って『四つの署名』のピグミーを思い出させるし、動機や密室殺人も。


（そう言われると、確かに四つの署名との共通点がある・・・）



★Given how much they like having John a confirmed bachelor, and the jokes that follow, I'm reluctant to think they'd want to give that up, on a side note.
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

I totally agree with this, and I dare say that it's actually the most important reason for the writers to keep John at Baker Street, more so than not departing from the canon. They would not want to lose the whole "domestic" angle of the relationship between Sherlock and John, or the interaction with Mrs. Hudson. It allows the viewers such insights into their world, something you would never gain otherwise. Plus, virtually all comedy in the series stems from the concept of "the odd couple sharing a small space". Why give up on that?

Having said that, there are of course other options - they can make John have a divorce soon after marrying, or marry and still stay on living at Baker Street for a while.
Personally, I would not like either of these options, because I feel that the "wedding and divorce after 5 minutes" has been done to death by other shows, and the idea of a married John Watson living with Sherlock Holmes is just weird on too many levels.

On a more general note, I strongly believe that all three clues will feature prominently in both the show and their respective ACD stories.After all, "Woman, Hound, Fall" were all major themes, not just small details.



どんなに彼らが独身主義者のジョンと、それにまつわるジョークが好きなのか、と考えたら、彼らがジョンを結婚させるとは思えない。

↑の意見に賛成！ジョンが独身でいること、これが作者たちがジョンをベーカー街に住まわし続ける重要な理由で、原作以上にそこが重要なのよ。作者たちは『家庭内』から見たシャーロックとジョンの関係、あるいはハドソンさんとのやりとりを失いたくないだろうし、視聴者たちに彼らの世界をのぞき見させてくれるわ。そうじゃないと、私達は決して見ることが出来ないことをね。それに事実上ほとんどのコメディは『ヘンな二人が小さな空間を共有する』というコンセプトで生まれてきてる。これを止める訳ないじゃない？

そうはいっても、もちろん別のオプションもある－結婚したジョンをすぐに離婚させるのよ。あるいは結婚してもしばらくはベーカー街に住み続けるの。
どちらも気に食わないアイディアだけど、他のドラマじゃ結婚5分後に離婚なんてあるじゃない。でも結婚したジョンがシャーロックと住むっていうのは、ヘンな話だわね。






そして最後がBOW

★But "Bow"? I mean it's just too early for His Last Bow, right?

BOWは『最後の挨拶』のBOWでは早すぎるでしょう？



★
"Bow". Most probably refering to "His Last Bow". Why? Becasue Moftiss wants us in hysterics that it's Sherlock's last case. So many articles say that's when Sherlock goes into retirement, which of course is false- that when he comes out of retirement. I do not believe for a second that they'll definitevely bring the series to an end. They might put it on hiatus- who knows- but this toy is too fun- not only for us, but for them as well.


My current theory on "Bow"- in "His Last Bow" Sherlock is undercover, flushing out a spy ring. Watson joins him late in the case, after they have not seen each other for years.


BOW：一番それらしいのは、やっぱり『最後の挨拶』。なぜってモファット＋ゲイティスは、私達にシャーロック最後の事件だって思わせて混乱させたいのよ。シャーロックは引退する、と沢山の記事に書かせるためのね。でもそれは、もちろんウソ。彼らがシリーズを終わりにしようとしてる、なんて一瞬たりとも思わなかったわ。中断期間はあるかもしれないけど、こんなに面白いもの－私達にとってだけでなく、彼らにとっても面白い『お楽しみ』を止める訳ないわ。

BOW:『最後の挨拶』でホームズはスパイ組織一掃するためにスパイになって潜入するわ。
ワトスンは最後の方で彼に加わるのね。ふたりは何年も会わなかった後で。


★　I don't recall any stories in the canon that have to do with a bow as in a bow and arrow. Bow for a ship could refer to the Gloria Scott or Abbey Grange, though it seems less likely given that "Woman, Hound, Fall" were rather overt references.

原作で弓矢の弓（bow）と関係ある話は思い出せないけど、船の舳先のbowなら『グロリア・スコット号』や『修道館屋敷』と関連付けられるけど、『woman, hound, fall』がかなりハッキリしたヒントだったことを考えると、少し弱い線だわ。




★So if it is pronounced like an actor's bow, then it's probably referring to "His Last Bow." However, like Chrissi said, that doesn't nessicarily mean it's the end of Sherlock, as Moftiss did say they were going to have another cliffhanger at the end of series 3. Although I think their current contract only goes through the end of series 3, so maybe it will be the end. I certainly hope it isn't...


発音が直されたってことは、挨拶のBowなんだ。そうなると多分『最後の挨拶』。でもChrissiが言っていたように、それは必ずしもシャーロックの最後っていう意味じゃないでしょう。モファット＋ゲイティスが言っていたじゃない。シリーズ（３）の最後もまたクリフハンガーになるだろうって。現在の契約ではシリーズ（３）までだから（３）で終わるかもしれないけど、でも私はきっとそうはならないと願ってるわ。






　
★　最後にウケていた傑作案：


Re: RAT. WEDDING. BOW.
Well, Moftiss could have John marry someone. Then they could kill her off. Then Sherlock gets to comfort poor John .

Here's my real prediction for Rat Wedding Bow:

In episode 1, Sherlock comes back to Baker Street (and the Empty House) disguised as a rat exterminator.
In Episode 2, he saves a royal wedding from disaster. (Queen Elizabeth enjoyed her role in Peter Boyle's Opening Ceremony so much she now has accepted a part in 'Sherlock')
In Episode 3, Sherlock and John do something heroic to save the British Government and Mycroft forces a knighthood on them. They have to practice bows for the ceremony (Queen Elizabeth has now demanded a recurring role and is secretly in love with Benedict).


そうねえ、モファット＋ゲイティスはジョンを誰かと結婚させるかもしれない。それからそのお相手を死亡させるかもしれない。そしてシャーロックが可哀想なジョンを慰めることになるかも。
さて、私のRat, Wedding, Bow説は：

第一話で、シャーロックはベイカー街へ（空家へ）ネズミ(rat)退治業者に変装して戻ってくる。^^

第二話で彼はイギリス王家の結婚(wedding)を破談の危機から救う。（エリザベス女王はオリンピック開会式でピーター・ボイルとの共演をとても楽しんだから、『シャーロック』出演も引き受ける。

第三話では、シャーロックとジョンが英国政府の危機を救うという英雄的な仕事をし、マイクロフトは彼らにナイトの爵位を押し付ける。彼らは式典のためのお辞儀(bow)の仕方を練習。エリザベス女王は何度もシャーロックへの出演を要求していた。彼女は密かにベネディクトに恋をしていたからだった。

さて、この中で言い当てている説があるのでしょうか。それとも全く当たっていないでしょうか。

ファンのひとりが飛行機でモファット夫妻とゲイティスに遭遇、自身のブログにそのことを書いて話題になっていましたが

そこでゲイティスが、ジョンは結婚させない、と話したそう。

... I had a sudden attack of fangirl feels when I was chatting about series 3 with Mark and I kinda blurted out ‘Please don’t marry off John Watson!’ and he just smirked and said ‘I’m not going to marry John Watson!’ and I died.

... which I take to be Gatiss saying that he himself would not marry John!





ということは、いったい誰のWeddingなのでしょう？気になります。

以前tumblrで読んだTVLINE インタヴュー記事の抜粋で、ベネディクトが言っていたのは：




TVLINE: When do you start shooting Season 3?
Benedict: January. That’s the plan.
TVLINE: And then beyond Season 3?
Benedict: There’s no reason for us to stop if it’s still being adored and we still enjoy doing it. We only do three [episodes] at a time, so I think the normal fear of over-stretching the mark and just doing too many [doesn’t apply]. It’s good to leave people wanting more. I’d like to see [Sherlock] getting older. We’re starting quite young. It’s rare to see Holmes and Watson at the beginning of their relationship; we usually join them in their mid-to-late 40s or 50s. I’ve got a way to go. I mean, I’m only 35.

TL:シーズン（３）の撮影開始は？

BC: 1月からの予定です。

TL:シーズン（３）より先は？

BC:視聴者が気に入ってくれて、ボク達が楽しめている間はストップする理由はないでしょう。1シーズン3話だけですから、引き伸ばし過ぎたり、作り過ぎたりの恐れはありません。視聴者たちがもっと観たいという状態にしておかれるのがいい。シャーロックが年をとっていくのを見たいですね。若いシャーロックからスタートしました。ホームズとワトスンが知り合いになるところから見るのは珍しいでしょう。たいてい中年以降、40～50代の二人を見てましたから。ボク達にはまだ先がたくさんあります。ボクはまだ35歳ですから。
（いつのインタヴューかな。たしか7月で36歳になったはず・・・）





ベネディクト自身、年とったシャーロックを見たい、と言っているし、タネが尽きるまで、視聴者から飽きられるまで、続けてほしいです！
そうすれば、シャーロック出演ごとに彼は身体を絞らないとならないから、あの痩せぎすの体躯を保たないといけないでしょう！(^^)
役作りで今は大分、サイズを上げてしまってるけど、来年1月には頬骨の張った、なで肩でシャープなシルエットのシャーロックに戻ってくるのを楽しみにしております。(^^)
