太子則副木菟宿禰而遣焉。爰瑞齒別皇子歎之曰「今太子與仲皇子、並兄也。誰從矣、誰乖矣。然、亡無道就有道、其誰疑我。」則詣于難波、伺仲皇子之消息。
仲皇子、思太子巳逃亡而無備。時有近習隼人、曰刺領巾。瑞齒別皇子、陰喚刺領巾而誂之曰「爲我殺皇子、吾必敦報汝。」乃脱錦衣褌、與之。刺領巾、恃其誂言、獨執矛、以伺仲皇子入厠而刺殺、卽隸于瑞齒別皇子。於是木菟宿禰、啓於瑞齒別皇子曰「刺領巾、爲人殺己君。其爲我雖有大功、於己君無慈之甚矣。豈得生乎。」乃殺刺領巾。卽日向倭也、夜半臻於石上而復命。於是、喚弟王以敦寵、仍賜村合屯倉。是日、捉阿曇連濱子。

The Crown Prince sent Tsukinosukune as an attendant. Prince Mizuhashiwake lamented, saying, "The Crown Prince and Prince Nakatsukimi are both my brothers. Whom should I follow, whom should I defy? Yet, if I eradicate the unjust and align with the just, who would doubt me?"
Arriving in Naniwa, he awaited news of Prince Nakatsukimi. Unprepared, Prince Nakatsukimi assumed the Crown Prince had fled. At that time, a close aide named Hayato, also known as Sashihire, was present. Prince Mizuhawake secretly summoned Sashihire and instructed him, "Kill the prince for me, and I will surely reward you." He then bestowed upon him a garment of brocade and a belt.
As instructed, Sashihire, armed with a spear, lay in wait for Prince Nakatsukimi to enter the toilet and then stabbed him, aligning himself with Prince Mizuhawake. Tsukinosukune approached Prince Mizuhawake, saying, "Sashihire has slain his own lord for the sake of another. While this may bring him great merit personally, it shows a lack of compassion toward his lord and cannot be tolerated." Sashihire was promptly executed.
On the same day, they set out for Yamato. In the dead of night, they reached Isonokami and reported to Izahowake. Prince Mizuhawake was warmly received and bestowed the village of Awase no Miyake. On that day, Awaji no Muraji Hamako was captured.
≪この英文の和訳≫
皇太子は付き添いとして木菟宿禰（つくのすくね）を遣わしました。瑞歯別皇子（みずはわけのみこ）は「皇太子と仲皇子(なかつみこ)は私の兄弟だ。誰を信じ、誰に背くべきか。しかし、無道を亡ぼし道ある方につけば、誰が私を疑うだろうか」と嘆いて言われました。
難波（なにわ）に着くと、仲皇子の消息を伺われました。仲皇子は皇太子が逃げ出したと思い込んで備えができていなかった。その頃、近習(側近)の隼人（はやと）の刺領巾（さしひれ））がいました。瑞歯別皇子は密かに隼人を呼び、「私のために王子を殺してくれたら、必ず厚く報いるから」と言い、錦の衣と腰布(褌)を与えられました。
依頼された言葉通り、隼人は一人矛(槍)を持って仲皇子の動きを伺い、厠（かわや）に入るときに刺し殺しました。そして瑞歯別皇子(みずはわけのみこ)についた。
木菟宿禰(つくのすくね)は瑞歯別皇子に「刺領巾(さしひれ)は人のために自分の君(君主)を殺した。それは、自分のためには大きな功があるが、自分の君に対しては慈悲の無いこと甚だしく、生かしてはおけない」と言った。そして刺領巾(さしひれ)を殺した。
その日のうちに大和（やまと）に向かい、深夜に石上（いそのかみ）に到着し、伊弉諾別皇子（いざほわけのみこ）に報告しました。瑞歯別皇子(みずはわけのみこ)は厚くもてなされ、混合屯倉（むらあわせのみやけ）の村を賜りました。この日、阿曇連(あわじのむらじ)浜子（はまこ）が捕えられました。
