植物画は図鑑や論文に掲載するため、細部にわたって忠実に描かれたもので、眞子さまは「色彩と立体感では、標本よりも植物画のほうが優れていると言われています」などと説明されました。
両陛下は、笑顔で眞子さまの説明に聞き入り、天皇陛下は「画家は、植物のことをよく知っていたんですね」などと話されていました。両陛下はこのあと館長の案内で、眞子さまが仕事で使われている机などもご覧になったということです。
天皇陛下は、２日午前１０時前、退位の日程が固まったあと初めて、皇后さまと皇居の外に出られました。皇居の半蔵門の前では、近くに住む人や通りかかった人などおよそ２０人が待ち受け、両陛下は、車の窓を開けて笑顔で手を振って応じられていました。
近くに住む６９歳の男性は「きのうのことを受けて、何かほっとされたようなにこやかな表情をされていたと思います。激務を続けられているので、退位の日程が固まってよかったです」と話していました。
ジョギング中に通りかかった３７歳の男性は「両陛下のお元気そうな姿を見ることができてよかったです。ご高齢ですし、退位されるのはしかたないと思います」と話していました。
