警察官などが駆けつけたところ、この家に住む溶接業の原信介さん（５５）と、妻の歌子さん（５４）が３階で血を流して倒れているのが見つかりました。警察によりますと、信介さんは顔などを切りつけられていてその後、死亡し、歌子さんは胸などを切られるけがをしました。
警察は、自宅からいなくなっていた、同居する息子で無職の原孝佑容疑者（２３）の行方を捜査し、およそ１時間後、５００メートルほど離れた東大阪市の路上で見つけ、逮捕しました。警察によりますと、調べに対し両親を切りつけたことを認めたうえで、「詳しい動機は今は言えない」と供述しているということです。
通報した祖母が、原容疑者と父親の信介さんが言い争う声を聞いていて、自宅からは血のついた複数の包丁が見つかったということで、警察は殺人の疑いで詳しい状況などを調べています。
