上空５５００メートルから初日の出を楽しむ新春恒例のフライトが成田空港で行われました。
「初日の出フライト」は、地上よりも早く天候に関係なく初日の出を見られることから、成田空港で１０年前から運航されています。元日は、千葉県成田市の観光キャラクター「うなりくん」に見送られながら、家族連れなど１６５人が日本航空の航空機に乗り込みました。
参加者を乗せた航空機は、午前６時に離陸したあと千葉県館山沖の高度５５００メートル付近を何度も旋回してその瞬間を待ちました。午前６時４０分すぎ、初日の出が見え始めて強い光が雲海を照らすと、大きな歓声が上がりました。このあと、西に１００キロ余り離れた富士山上空を飛行し、乗客たちは淡いオレンジ色に染まった初富士をカメラに収めていました。
３歳の長男とともに搭乗した愛媛県の４０代の男性は、「いいものが見られました。今月２人目の子どもが生まれる予定なので元気に健康に育ってくれるようお願いしました」と話していました。
父親と搭乗した埼玉県の中学３年の男子生徒は、「初日の出はとてもきれいで、自然の力を感じました。ことしは高校受験ですが、おかげで合格できそうな気がします」と話していました
