Tramel fills the void left when former head coachRussell Hunt resigned after being arrested on drug charges inMarch. Tramel completed his second season as associate head coach andeighth year overall as a member of the University of Minnesotamen's swimming and diving coaching staff. In his eight seasons with the Golden Gophers, Tramel has made hismark in Minneapolis.

Since his arrival, the Minnesota men wonconference titles in 2005 and 2007 while posting 11th placefinishes at the NCAA Championships in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009 anda 10th place performance in 2007. In his only season coaching thewomen as well in 2011-12, the Gophers claimed the Big Ten title. Tramel has coached at some of the nation's top programs and has wona combined 10 conference team championships. His teams have placedin the top 20 at the NCAA Championships 18 times.
