（Preface）ESC2013 (hereinafter ”Championships”) was held in Minsk, Belarus from 18 thru 21 July, 2013. Attendants were 91 which marked the largest number throughout the history of the Championships. Especially, many attendants from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine were found.
The Japanese from Japan were 8 (1o, last year). The geographical and psychological sense of distance for Japanese affected the number of attendants. (The Japanese from outside Japan were 2. last year, 5.) Tatehisa Irie, Mitsuru Niizeki, Tomohide Kawasaki and I participated in the Championships from ISPS.
From professional Shogi players, Shohei Takada, 6 dan and Madoka Kitao, Joryuu 2 dan (both were the members of ISPS) and Hiroe Nakai, Joryuu 6 dan participated in the Championships for instructing Shogi players and spreading Shogi around the country.
