１５日午前６時半ごろ、三重県亀山市の新名神高速道路の下り線の鈴鹿トンネルの中で、大型トラックと普通乗用車、それに軽乗用車の少なくとも３台の車が関係する事故がありました。警察によりますと、この事故で、軽乗用車が横転し、乗っていた男性３人のうち２人が全身を打つなどして死亡しました。また、残る男性１人は意識不明の重体になっています。
大型トラックの右後方には、追突されたような痕があるということで、警察は軽乗用車が大型トラックに追突したはずみで横転したあと、乗用車がぶつかったと見て事故の詳しい状況を調べています。
現場は亀山市と滋賀県甲賀市を結ぶトンネルの入り口からおよそ７００メートルの地点で、３車線の道路があり、通行止めにはなっていないということです。
