ハウ先生のトリオ編成のジャズ・バンドの音源。
現在母国イギリスをツアー中らしい。
イエスでの活動と平行してのソロ・ツアーかな？中々精力的。

添付してくれた画像を見ても分かるが、学校の教室の様なとても小さな空間での
演奏。下のコメントにもあるが、聴衆70名だとか・・・羨ましいね、こんな環境で
ハウ先生の演奏に触れられるなんて。

内容はイエスやソロの楽曲をジャズ風にリ・アレンジしてのもの。
イエスでの演奏を観ていても分かるが、元々ハウ先生ってギターのプレイ・スタイルが
ジャズ風なのでトリオ・ジャズ編成での演奏もそれ程「違った」感じは受けなかった。
まぁ、Set1-06の様にどうしてもジャズ風にアレンジ出来なくてイエスそのもの・・って
曲もあるんだけど（笑）

録音もとても上質。ドラムスは息子かな？？

Another intimate show at The Cellars, a small 140 max capacity pub venue with a tiny low stage.
Only about 70 people in attendance, which was surprising but great for my recording.
All folks were very respectful on the night; hence only minimal extraneous noise on this recording ...
which is a CRACKER IMHO !!!!

I managed to get a stool to sit on in front of the stage area ...
see photos to see how close up we were! Accordingly my recording is very clean, up-front & personal
with a great tight sound as you might expect from right in front of the band.

ニューヨーク州にあるオールバニというところで行われたUKの北米ツアー最新音源。

今回の北米ツアー"Azure Seas" Tourは主に東海岸を回ったもので、４月19日～27日で計6公演と規模の小さいものであった。

特色は何と言っても4人編成であるところだろう。（ホールズワースが居た時みたいに）
先日紹介した3月末のクルーズ船上のイベント「Cruise To The Edge」まではテリー・ボジオ含む4人編成であったが、
今回のツアーはHR/HMやプログレ系のバンドでのキャリアのあるテクニカルなドラマー、ヴァージル・ドナーチを迎えている。
ギターはこれまた技巧派の若きギタリスト、アレックス・マカチェク。

セットに関して書けば、クリムゾンのレパートリー「スターレス」と「レッド」がDisk1-07とDisk2-07で披露されている
辺りだろうか。

録音は非常に秀逸。とても満足な作品に仕上がっているのが嬉しい。
演奏も終始緊張感があって宜しいし、会場の雰囲気の良さも伝わってくる。



現在アナウンスは無いものの、是非この面子でもチッタで呼んで欲しいね。（7月頃と噂が・・・）

現在北米をツアー中のイエスの一昨日の音源を入手。
今回のツアーは3つのアルバムを完全再現した演奏がウリみたい。
その３つのアルバムとは「危機～Close to the Edge」「サード・アルバム～The Yes Album」
「究極～Going For the One」の3枚。

音質は上質。演奏もそれなりなんだけど、前半Voが音程外す箇所が幾つか、03はかなりキーを下げて
いるのが気になった。オリジナルVoが年齢とともに咽に負担がかかって仕方なくキー落とすならともかく、
新人なんだからオリジナル・キーで歌える人間入れてくれよ・・・と聴いていて正直思ってみたりして。
03はキーを下げたことで曲全体のバランスみたいなものがオリジナルに慣れた人間には非常に不自然に
感じられた。

でも、後半11～15は中々の熱演でとても良いね。個人的にはこのアルバム辺りからイエスは聴き出した
（勿論リアルタイム）ので思い入れあるから、このアルバムの曲をステージでフルに演奏してくれるのは
嬉しい。

先月末、数日間に亘りカリブ海の洋上で開催されたお金持ちプログレ・ファン（笑）のためのイベント
「Cruise To The Edge」の中でのイエスのファン交流会の音と映像が上がっていたので
頂いてみた。

交流会イベントではファンからの色々質問にも答えていたみたい。下記にその様子が短く紹介
されているが、ジョン・アンダーソンに関する質問は無かったのかな？

On the cruise, each band did a "Storytellers" session moderated by cruise emcee Jon Kirkman
in which members answered questions from the audience and played several songs "unplugged."
Yes had their turn on the last day in the main theater. It was by far the most formal
of the Storyteller sessions with Kirkman reading selected questions that had been gathered
ahead of time on note cards
(one benefit of this, I suppose, was to avoid awkward "What's up with Jon" questions).

At the conclusion of the discussion Alan, Chris and Geoff left the stage leaving Steve and Jon D. to do a short acoustic set.

Throughout the Q&A there is an annoying buzz over the PA. It's not so distracting that it's impossible to listen to though.
The guys are quite funny especially when describing trying to play the first night when the ship was rocking badly from side to side.

優雅だねぇ・・・

Carl Palmer Band Feburary 9, 2013 Tokyo

先日、東京で行われたカール・パーマー・バンドのAUD音源。

昨年はＮＨＫの大河ドラマでELPの「タルカス」が挿入歌（採用されたのはオリジナルでは無く、
日本の指揮者とオーケストラのものだったけど）に取上げられたりして一部（笑）の間では
ELPのちょっとしたリバイバル・ブームだったみたいだけど、タイミング良く今回ドラムスのカール・
パーマーが単独で来てくれた。

バンドの面子もセットも一昨年紹介したものとそれ程変わらないかな。まぁ、セットは変わり様が無い
かも知れないけど・・・

バックはギターもベースも腕達者だね。ベースソロではクイーンの「ボヘミアン～」を演っているけど、
中々に聴かせてくれる。

場所は下北沢のライブ・ハウス。小さいハコらしい近さを感じさせる音。音質もエクセレント。

'71年、イエスにとって初めてのUSツアーの音源。
個人の間での流通音源らしい。SBDリマスター（個人による）音源。リマスター箇所は下記に明記。


新たにギターにスティーヴ・ハウを迎え「サード・アルバム～The Yes Album」をリリースしてのツアーのもの。
勿論この当時はメイン・アクトではなくオープニング（前座）としての出演だったらしい。

音質は上質。1st～2ndのアート・ロック、サイケ的な要素の強かったバンド・カラーからプログレッシヴ・ロックへ
移行し始めた頃の黎明期の音源。今やバンドの代表的な４曲なのだが、聴いていると演奏もＭＣも初々しいのが
何やら微笑ましい（笑）


これの約一週間後にはキーボードのトニー・ケイが脱退。後にバンドにとっての最強キーボードプレイヤーとなる
リック・ウェイクマンが加入して、バンドは楽曲、演奏面全てに於いて更に飛躍する訳だね。

先月末のエイジアの東京公演。

ジョン・ウェットンは6月のＵＫ、ハウ先生とジェフリー・ダウンズは
4月のイエス以来の今年再来日だった。お暇なカールおじさんは何時以来だったのかしら？

聴いてみて、ウェットンのテンションの高さが印象的。
ＭＣであの’78以来？？の「キミタチサイコダヨ！」も発するに至っては、これまでの彼等の
ステージの中でもベストの出来なのかな。。。とも思わせる（笑）
（でもこれはおそらくウドーのＴＡＫ辺りの入れ知恵だろうね）

音質も渋公１０列目からの音なので文句なし。

音はやや遠いものの、歪み等聴き難い箇所も無く楽しめる内容。
日本でのセットもこれとほぼ同様の内容と思われる。演奏時間は約100分。

先週のイエスの日本公演の音源が上がっていたのでゲット！
オープニングSEは何時ものストラヴィンスキーの「火の鳥」ではなくて、ABWHの時と
同様のB.ブリテン「青少年のための管弦楽入門」

聴いていて、セットはかなり刷新された印象。
ハウ先生のアコースティック・ギター・ソロ（1-06、1-07）や、組曲（1-08～1-13）は初めて聴いた。
新しいVoも違和感無い。また最前列での録音だそうで、そのせいか音質も秀逸。まぁ渋公は
会場が小さいから何処で録っても音は良いと思うが・・・


どうせ今回も同じセットだろう。。。とスルーしたが、これだったら行っとけば良かった・・・
と音源聴いた後に後悔してみたりして（笑）

エマーソン・レイク＆パーマー（EL&P)やエイジアでドラムスを担当していた
（エイジアはしている）カール・パーマーのソロ・バンドのAUD音源。
バンドはトリオで、セットの殆どはEL&Pのレパートリー。

エマーソンのパートはこの若いギターがコピーしているんだけど、上手いね。
「ホーダウン」の早弾きなんかも全編殆どノーミスでこなすし。アメリカには
こんなギターは幾らでも居るんだろうね。バークレー辺りの音楽学校に行けば。

音質も良好。
