I personally went for VM WS installation, because portability is a
very important issue for me.
For those run out of diskspace, like me, I suggest to install Ista+ in VMware WS Ver 12x with Win7 x64 Guest. Earlier VMware versions down to
10 probably will work as well. Diskspace need runs to 350 GB. I used 350 GB diskspace on SSD installed in a caddy sitting in DVD slot of an i3 notebook.
ISTA can be working pretty soon,in case You are following the excellent instructibles of spider80 without missing not a one step of instruction.
X86 apps in VM x64 environment like itoolradar arose a java problem, even when I tried to install an outdated x86 Java version.
Mayor Ista+ / ISTA P working like a charm ( i used icom with latest firmware update ). Running ISTA /P requires good charging
equipment with constant additional load otherwise it will quit session . BMW currentliy advices supply > 70A. For older cars like E-series
25A seem to be ok in my opinion.


Installed…. 100% working ….so had to log back in and reply with BIG THANKS to the superb package with excellent step by step install instructions.
Just had two little snags when installing under Win7 x86 …..
1) vcredist_x86 2008.exe download was corrupt …..but easily solved by re-downloading from MicroSh@ft
2) no Java included in download package ….again easily found via Guugle!

Benz MB STAR Xentry Diagnosis cannot save Starkey

Starkey Manager error occurred when activating the Mercedes Benz MB STAR (MB SD Connect Compact 4, Super MB Star, Star C3 multiplexer) XENTRY diagnostic software.

Solutions:
1) Incorrect computer time. Set the computer time to current time.
2) Delete “lic-key2.dat file” in Disk C (C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataLicDir), re-activate the Star diagnosis XENTRY software
3) Provide the LAN-ID (i.e 0800016096B4) and APP ID to calculate the Xentry key. You should provide HW-ID and APP ID instead.
4) Provide the wrong HW-ID (i.e. 06EDAFC4E276) or APP ID (i.e 250), so got the invalid activation Starkey correspondingly.

How to Update BMW ICOM Firmware to V1.38

From Autonumen.com BMW Super ICOM has upgrade to V2015.06, the new version ICOM ISTA-D ISTA-P has to work with super version BWM ICOM A2+B+C wifi with firmware 1.38.01. Follow the instruction below to update Super ICOM A2 firmware to V1.38.01.

How to Update Super ICOM A2 Firmware to V1.38.01?

Super Version BMW ICOM A2/A1 V1.38 firmware update files could be downloaded online. Please contact us to get the update file free download link. ( our email address is sales@dasobd2.de)

Please connect Super version BMW ICOM A2 with computer using Network cable and feed super ICOM A2 using 12V power adapter or connect ICOM A2 with BMW vehicle.

1) Unzip ICOM A1 A2 Perfect version V1.38 firmware update tool on the desktop
2) Open the unzipped folder and read the instruction on Notepad first
3) Open IE Internet Explorer, Brose to http://169.254.33.45:60080/, login with user name/password: root/NZY1150263

5) Select “ICOM-BootImage-01-24-00.bin” file, set the image type to “SYSTEM”, click “Send the file”

7) Then the system will display “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successfully”, click “update firmware”,

KTAG with token renew button. When tokens are used up, just connect it with computer and the red indicator flash, then you press the Token Reset button, wait until the indicator flash off, unplug the USB cable.
