情熱の花

最近ユミがはまっているパッション・フルーツは熱帯では栽培は簡単。つる性の植物なので塀際や庭木の下に挿し木をするとどんどん伸びて1年中次々と実をつけます。和名はトケイソウ。カラスウリの花に似ています。午前中ポンという音で開花し数分で全開する1日花。実は甘く酸っぱく、種をカリカリ食べてもいいし、ヨーグルトやアイスクリームと食しても結構な味。

Passion fruits that Yumi is crazy about recently are easy to cultivate in the tropical area. They are climbing plants, so if you plant some cuttings under the fence or the garden trees, they easily grow and bear fruits one by one all year long. Japanese call them Tokei-sou(clock-plants). They look like Karasu-uri. They are one-day flowers popping with sound of pong and fully bloom within a few minutes in the morning. The flesh is sweet and sour. You can eat them tastefully with the crispy seeds or mix them with some yogurt or ice cream.
