スーパーには季節と関係なくあらゆる果物が並び、便利なようで味気なくもあります。熱帯の花は多くが四季咲きですが、青物市場は安くて新鮮な地場産の季節の果物だけ。時には珍品も手に入ります。青森では年間に30種類の地場産果物しかなかったけど、熱帯のケアンズでは常時30種以上の地場産果物が並びます。

It is convenient but quite dreary at the same time that we can get any kinds of fruit at the supermarket no matter which season it is. In the tropical area many kinds of flowers are perpetual but our market supplies only local, fresh, seasonal fruit. Sometimes you can get rare ones. There were only 30 kinds of local fruit through a year in Aomori, but there are always 30 different kinds in tropical Cairns.
