ユミの天敵

11月25日(日)快晴

ユミは蚊が大嫌い。マングローブの森に囲まれたLidoは蚊が多いので、ユミは1年間ほとんど近所の散歩はしなかった。プールも1度も利用しなかったし、テニスも2－3回だけ。Lidoは蚊の天敵・ゲッコー(ヤモリ)も多いのですが、ユミは爬虫類をまるで怖がりません。当地のヤモリは全身緑色で体長は5－10cm。孵化直後だと1cmでとても可愛いので世界中の両爬マニアから愛されています。夜行性で深夜「チチチ」と天井で鳴きます。今日はLidoの備品の点検。壊した陶器類や紛失した什器類などの代金は敷金から差し引かれます。

Yumi’s natural enemies

Yumi detests mosquitoes. There were so many mosquitoes in Lido that was surrounded by mangrove forests, so she rarely took a walk in the neighborhood for the past year. She never used the swimming pool as well and played tennis only a few times. There are also a lot of geckos, the natural enemy of mosquitoes but Yumi never afraid of any reptiles. The geckoes in Cairns have green body and 5-10cm long. Just after the hatch they are about 1cm long and they look so cute. They impress the reptile maniacs from all over the world. They are nocturnal and sing saying, “chi, chi, chi” from the ceiling in the mid night. We checked the furniture we had in Lido today. They charge for broken dishes and lost utensils and deduct it from our bond.
