Reader's Digestが公募した100 WORD STORYの優勝・準優勝作品の紹介が同誌の4月号にありました。
私が気に入った作品はありませんでしたが、１００語はとても短いと感じたのは意外でした。選考者を紹介する文に私が気になった単語がありました。

"longlisted" はアカデミー賞の "nominated" と同じ様な意味かなと想像し、また "shortlisted" なる言葉もあるかなと気になったので、まず "longlist" を辞書で調べます。

v. transitive To add to a longlist; to consider prior to a later and narrower shortlist
“This year though, good news, the longlist is to be limited to 12 books.”
なるほど、"shortlist" の前に作られるのが "longlist" となるのは当たり前ですね。もう "shortlist" を調べる必要はなくなりましたが、ついでに 、"shortlist" も見てみます。
