Mt. Tarumae and Mt. Fuppushi

In the center is Mt. Tarumae, and in the right, Mt. Fuppushi, both of which are volcanoes. As September is the shoulder season for tourism, there weren't many tourist along the lakeside.

You can learn about how the lake and volcanoes appeared in the ancient times at the visitor center.

Lake Shikotsu

On the 6th of Sep., I went to Lake Shikotsu which is lacated about 20 kilometers from New Chitose Airport.
It is not very convenient to get to the lake by public transportation so that you should go by rental car if you are coming from ouseide of Hokkaido.
Around the lake there are several resort hotels which offer onsen bath for residents and non-residents. You can also enjoy some atractions such as galss-bottom boat, high speed cruising, pedaling boat, kokanee fishing, camping in beautiful scenary, and so on.
