it's come again!!

I have been feeling blue since yesterday.
... Again? Yes, it has come again!

From around ovulation occurs, my condition, both physical and pcycological, gets worse. It's so called PMS!

What is PMS? It stands for Premenstrual Syndrome, a group of symptoms related to the menstrual cycle. It depends on individual whether one presents severe symptoms or mild, or even none.
The typical physical symptoms are;
headaches, migraine, bloating, constipation or diarrhea, breast tenderness, drowsiness, fatigue, and gain weight because of food cravings.
And the typical emotional symptoms are;
irritability, anxiety, depression, and trouble concentrating or remembering.

PMS seems to have something to do with hormonal balance that changes in stages of life. Such as when your body turns mature in your puberty, and when you have menopause. And on top of everything, when you have menstrual periods. Do you know how those menstrual periods occur? It is all a set of hormones that play the role. They send signals by increasing themselves to let some organs know the time to ovulate or to get rid of uterine linings.

Regrettably, those who never experienced the symptoms hardly understand how it feels like. Let alone the creature called MALE!!
It makes me feel all alone when people say, "Don't be too worried! You are just imagining it!!" or something. They never understand my feelings. Surprisingly, even gynecologists are sometimes careless.
It was about 3 years ago, I was under extreme stress that worsened my PMS. I went to an office of some gynecologist's because menstrual cramps were severely hurting me. I was worried if I had a problem in my uterus. Although the specialist, who is male, examined me and explained kindly that there was no problem, I went to his office again half a year later. I was still suffering from the severe cramps. What he said was cold-blooded to me. "There is absolutely no need to re-examine you here. No serious illness develops all of a sudden and I told you that you were absolutely healthy." I counted on him badly because I WAS ILL. He didn't do anything but turned me down in a minute. He didn't even hear my heartbeats. Devastated, I drove home with my eyes flooded. Of course, I was mentally in bad condition, one of the typical mental symptoms of PMS. He should have been more thoughtful, I strongly insist. I was so shocked! SHOCKED!! ( who can recognize I am doing Phoebe? hehe.. )

Anyways...
( I am sorry this article is already too long to read.)
To reduce those symptoms, we, the patients, need to live in a healthier way. Exercise regularly, eat well (balanced diet), avoid too much sugar and salt. Yes, I am putting them into practice! I feel much better now but still there is mood swings. I am really like the moon. I have a cycle of positive and negative phases.

I went to the gym this afternoon.

I mostly go for group fitness classes and it was Pilates today.

The instructor Paula taught a weird posture that apparently strengthens your abdomen and stretches your calves and hamstrings.
It was like this;
First, get down on all fours and then put your elbows down on the floor align with your shoulders.
Second, get your knees off the floor and stand with your toes. Put your heels to the floor.
Third, leave your elbows on the floor and walk as far as you can toward your breast.
And finally, push your breast backward with your chin up.

This pose looks like a human version of pyramid. Your bum makes the pointy top.
… And IT HURTS A LOT !!!

People in the aerobics room couldn’t help groaning and collapsing. I was among them.
Looking at the state in the room, Paula said ‘If you are thinking only like “What a hell am I suffering from? It hurts! It hurts!” it is never going to work. Let’s focus on how you are posing and which part of your body you are training. Once you understand what you are doing, it works more efficiently.”
…. Is that right?

I need to have my hamstrings and Achilles tendon more flexible, anyway.

I went to Tai-Chi again this morning.

... What the ...!!!
I was like, " ..... uh-oh," when I opened the folding blind on the window.
IT WAS SNOWING A LOT!!

No, I don't think it was a lot because I have experienced a lot more snow falling in Nagano, my home town. But that surely made me feel reluctant to walk to Tai-Chi...

Thinking back to last Wednesday, I gave up to go because of the bad weather. By the time I tried to leave home, it had stopped RAINING, that was falling through the night before. Not snowing! The temperature was below zero degrees in the morning, apparently. Yes, I can tell because the wet roads were all frozen!!! It was awful I stepped out of the front door, I slipped. The second step I took, I slipped. I was freaked out.
"Noooooooo...., I don't wanna wipe out and smash the back of my head.
I DON'T WANNA DIE!!"

So I went back in.

And then this week, .... snow?
I was lingering at first but finally went to Tai-Chi. I didn't want to be beaten by the stupid weather anymore.
Gosh, the instructor Paul didn't make it!! He lives far away from the gym and he was stuck in the traffic jam!!
There were 6 people in the aerobics room where we always do Tai-Chi. We started anyway, without Paul. I stood in front of everyone and did it. Not because I am the best student but I am the one who remembers all the moves. The people needed an example. Heh, heh.

朝起きてカーテン開けたら、雪がめちゃ降ってたけど…;;

body and soul

I went to Tai-Chi this morning.
I skipped two classes last week -----there are 3 classes a week----- so, to me, it was a must-go. The longer I goof around, the more likely my body forgets to move properly. So I needed to go getting up early even though I went to bed 2 o'clock in the morning!

When it comes to Tai-Chi as well as other martial arts or sports, you need to be patient. As time goes, no matter how long it takes, your skill will surely be improved as long as you don't quit it halfway.

Why do I like doing Tai-Chi?
Because I like its graceful moves. I didn't have a great motive when I started doing it. In my first class, I saw our instructor Paul's moves and I am totally attracted. His moves are perfectly in tune.
It has been for 9 months since I started and I still have a long way to go.
I finally learnt all the moves of full version of Tai-Chi but I need to control my mind too.
Paul says,
"Use your imagination. When you open your body, open your mind too, when you close, close your mind too."
It is a coordination of the body and soul. I got the idea but it's just difficult to realize!!

Rome was not build in a day, eh?

Hi/Lo,Sculpt and Stretch

Jan.7, 2005

I went to the gym.

They provide a variety of group lessons such as Tai-Chi (Tai-Kyoku-Ken) , Yoga and a kind of aerobics. There are tens of machines and weights to work out by yourself too, but I find it boring. I like those group lessons better so I went to Hi/Lo, Sculpt and Stretch class this morning.

The class newly came out from this month. They change the lessons’ schedule frequently. Some are cancelled and some are newly built once a month. What a shame, a Hi/Lo and Step class on Wednesday, which I used to go regularly, has cancelled. I took the new class instead.

What is Hi/Lo? … I am not sure either. Seems like it is an abbreviation of Hi and Lo Impact. You take some jumps and steps on the floor listening to the up-beat music. Mostly with the motions of boxing.
Sculpt means body sculpting. By using weights, you train your muscles. Some people might worry if they become too muscular, but it is a wrong idea. People have less muscle than recommended amount. You don’t use every muscle on your body everyday, do you? Muscle get weak easily if you don’t use it. We all need those kind of weight training that is not as hard as athletes do.
Well, you know what Stretch is.

I like the new class !! Wow, the instructor Pedro is so cute!! Heh, heh…
He’s got lean muscle, perfect proportion, and … cute ass!! He seems like from South America. Yes, he is a Latin guy. He made cool’n rhythmical steps along with the roomful of Latin music. He was just amazing! He danced and sang the Latin song at the same time! Hey, when the hell was he breathing??
It is actually harder than the cancelled class I used to do, but … It was fun!
I think my body will be as stiff as rusted metal by tomorrow. I am so sure I will get muscle ache.

さすが born to dance and sing!!
