Spaten ドイツ語で「スコップ」のことです。
このスコップと家名を引っ掛けています。スコップの絵柄に「GS」の文字が描いてあるわけですが、この「GS」もゲオルク・シュペートのイニシャルを表しています。

New TOEIC Materials

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. It's raining here in Nagoya. Too bad. We were hoping to go to the annual Oktoberfest held in Central Park. I know it's July, but, hey, even the Germans start the Oktoberfest in a different month (September)!!

During springtime, I worked on a project for Kenkyusha. My editor, Kaneko-san, sent me some copies of the finished materials. It is a series of four (4) half-tests, each one containing 100 items. This product will be used mainly in university classrooms. Unfortunately, these half-tests will not be available commercially for the general public, though we do have plans to publish a series of TOEIC practice materials early next year. We hope that the 1-hour length of the half-tests will make them suitable for use during a usual university コマ. According to Kaneko-san, already there has been a strong interest expressed by a number of university professors to use these tests in their English classes.

皆さん毎日チョ～暑いですね～OopsたまにRobertが超～…という日本語を使うと叱られちゃいますやっぱりダメですかね～？？わたしのお気に入りの言葉なんだけど…

　Italian 大好きなRobert。本日偶然お昼に見かけた創作Itailianのお店とシェフと道端でちょっとお話をし、是非来て下さいと言われ本当にその晩本当にお邪魔させていただきました

料理大好き！食べるの大好き！呑むの大好きなRobertは特にイタリア料理とメキシコ料理にはかなり味にうるさいのであります

しかし、いい意味で期待を裏切る位に美味しい料理で幸せな気分を味わう事が出来てその夜はHappy Robertでした。

食事をしながら考えた事は1 to 10でお店を評価する時味が5でもお店の雰囲気、音楽、サービス、スタッフの質をいれるとさらにUPするしまた反対にすっごく美味しくて有名なお店でも評価が下がる事もあるということ
本当にいいお店とは心が幸せだ！って感じ自分に訴えかけてくるお店だと思いました。どうも私は、説明が下手ですね～

久しぶりにこんなにゆっくり音楽を聴きながら食事が出来きたことへの感謝でお腹も心も満腹

ALC T860 Seminar

This past weekend we had about 85 participants in the 12th TOEIC 860 seminar at ALC Press. Thanks to the positive participation of all of the members, the seminar was a big success, I think. I am looking forward to the positive score reports from the participants.

During lunchtime on the second day, I had a chance to meet with Maeda Hiroyuki-sensei. Recently, because both of us are so busy, we don't really have so much time to meet each other. So I was really happy that Maeda-sensei came to ALC to meet me and give me a copy of his new book. I very much recommend this new book. It has three practice TOEIC tests and the quality of the items is very high--just like the real TOEIC.

Kopi Luwak(コピ・ルアク）

Robertの一日の始まりは朝煎れたてコーヒーを飲むこと飲めないとやる気無っし

そんなある日やっとのお休みの日の朝贅沢に高級コーヒー豆で有名なコピ・ルアクを煎れて朝から幸せ感じました

Robertはルアクの後味が最高に好きです

ちなみに、コピ・ルアク（インドネシア語 Kopi Luwak）とはジャコウネコの糞から採られる未消化のコーヒー豆のことで、「コピ」はコーヒーを指すインドネシア語、「ルアク」はマレージャコウネコの現地での呼び名っす！
