Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club[a] is a Japanese multimedia spin-off project from the Love Live! series and its game series Love Live! School Idol Festival. It was first introduced in 2017 as "Perfect Dream Project" and was initially created as part of the game Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars.[1] Unlike μ's and Aqours, the previous groups from the franchise, they are a group of individual school idols who compete with each other while working together to keep their school idol club alive. Together, they are referred as the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.[b]

They are featured in the spin-off game Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars along with μ's and Aqours. They also appear as SR rarity cards in Love Live! School Idol Festival.[2][3] The girls were initially split up into groups of three to begin activities in three different apps before their addition to the game: Dengeki Online website (Kasumi, Karin, Setsuna), Famitsu App website (Ayumu, Ai, Rina), and the game's official website (Emma, Shizuku, Kanata). Each place is working as a separate room or branch office for the Nijigasaki High School.[4] Later, they were officially split into three subunits: DiverDiva, A・Zu・Na, and Qu4rtz. An anime television series adaptation by Sunrise aired from October 3 to December 26, 2020. A second season has been announced and is set to premiere in 2022.

The school is popular due to its free school style and diverse majors.[5] The story centers on the members of the school idol club in Nijigasaki, who work together as solo idols and their attempt to prevent the club from being abolished. As the story progresses, more girls begin to participate in the club's activities.

Where appropriate, plot descriptions mentioned below refer to the story in Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars. Other parts of the franchise, such as the manga and animation series, feature some variations in the storyline.

. Growing up there, she loves what nature brings, like mountains and forests. She belongs to the international exchange course. Emma is distinguishable by her twin braids, freckles on her face and her well endowed figure. Her favorite food is bread and she is able to eat a lot of slices, as well as mixing it with other food. Emma is one of the original N-rarity girls introduced in School Idol Festival and she was originally named "Emma." She was a Y.G. International Academy student. Her image color is green, just like her surname Verde. She is one of the five original school idol club members; her absence from the club was simply because she went back to her home country for a while — leaving a letter that Kasumi misunderstood as a challenge letter from another school's club.
Emma is described as a "pure type school idol" (純粋系スクールアイドル, junsui-kei sukūru aidoru).
Rina Tennoji (天王寺 璃奈, Tennōji Rina)

She belongs to the information processing course, explaining her well-informed personality on technologies. Her image color is gray. In one of Rina's bond episodes of the game, she eventually decides to reveal her face to the protagonist; in All Stars, after reading this story, the player is also able to remove Rina's mask during live shows.
Rina is described as a "face-hiding type school idol" (顔出しNG系スクールアイドル, kaodashi NG-kei sukūru aidoru).

Is it revealed that rather than personally hating the school idol club, Shioriko is just critically thinking about the educational aspects of certain clubs and doing what she feels is right. After events that occurred in chapter 17 of the game, Shioriko joins the school idol club. In August 2020, Shioriko joined the All Stars game's playable cast and Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as an official member, receiving a solo song, a 3D model, and cards obtainable within the games scouting boxes.

In All Stars, she appears in her sister's bond episodes.
Kaoruko Mifune (三船 薫子, Mifune Kaoruko)
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa (All Stars)

After talking with Himeno on the day of the event, Karin starts to feel insecure about going on stage alone with such a large crowd. The other club members manage to cheer her up by showing her that she is not alone, and Karin pulls off the performance.

With the first school term now over, the School Idol Club prepares for a summer training camp at the school. They spend most of the first day cooking dinner, and Kasumi enlists both Shizuku and Rina so they can try to scare the other girls, only for it to backfire on them. Yu talks with Setsuna in the music room about having trouble finding something she loves to do, and on the way back, Ayumu seems them together. The next day, Ai suggests they play tag to break up the monotony of simply jogging, followed by them playing in the pool. Yu tells Ayumu that she will be more courageous and do everything she can for all of the club members. Yu talks to the club members about wanting to organize a school idol festival for various school idol groups.

Kasumi and Yu present a proposal for the school idol festival to the student council, but there are still some issues with it before it can be approved. The club bands together to fix what they need, starting with deciding on a venue. They also propose the festival to Haruka and Christina from Shinonome Institute, and Himeno and Misaki from Tooh Academy who all agree to participate. The club uses a suggestion box asking other students what kind of festival they would like to see. Meanwhile, Yu continues to work with Setsuna to work out the details for the proposal, something which Ayumu continues to take notice of. Kasumi and Yu later show all student council all of the suggestions they have received, and Yu tells them they have decided to have performances at multiple venues, prompting the student council to give their approval. Ayumu later hears from Setsuna that Yu has gotten better playing the piano. Yu invites Ayumu to her room, and tries to tell her about her plans for the future, but Ayumu worries about Yu becoming more distant from her.

Preparations continue for the school idol festival, but Yu remains preoccupied with what Ayumu told her the previous night. The girls start having individual brainstorming meetings with their supporters at school to work out the details for each of their performances and venues. Yu again tries to tell Ayumu that she has found something she wants to do, but Ayumu gets distraught over the thought of Yu spending less time with her as a result. Two days before the festival, the girls go to check out each of their venues. Ayumu reveals to Setsuna that she became a school idol because she wanted Yu to watch her perform, but now she feels like she is distancing herself from Yu due to the support she is receiving from others. However, Setsuna encourages her to see things through to the end. Yu and three of Ayumu's supporters show her the stage they have prepared for her, and Yu reassures her that her feelings for her will not change. Yu later tells her that she wants to play music and plans to transfer to the music course in the next school term.

The School Idol Club girls offer to help Yu prepare for her music exam so she can transfer to the music course. The school idol festival begins with each of the girls performing at each of their stages. It starts to rain after the end of the festival, resulting in a cancellation of the remaining performances. The rain stops after closing time at 7 p.m., but the vice president of the student council convinces the school to allow for one more performance with the entire Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. News of the festival spreads online, prompting other school idols groups to contact Nijigasaki about participating in the next one. Meanwhile, Yu sits down to take the music exam.

While working individually, the girls also released singles as group as well as divided into three subunits. The members of each unit were decided by votes from fans. Instead of three subunits consisting of three members each as previously seen with μ's and Aqours, the Nijigasaki girls were divided into groups of two, three, and four. Voting on the subunits along with their names concluded on June 10, 2019. The results consist of: DiverDiva (Karin and Ai), A・Zu・Na (Ayumu, Shizuku, and Setsuna), and Qu4rtz (pronounced "Quartz", Kasumi, Kanata, Emma, and Rina).[20]

Stardust Crusaders

This article is about the manga. For the OVA adaptation, see JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (OVA). For the 2014 television series, see JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.
Stardust Crusaders (Japanese: スターダストクルセイダース, Hepburn: Sutādasuto Kuruseidāsu) is the third story arc of the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. The arc was serialized for a little over 3 years. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 27th, 1989 to April 14th, 1992 for 152 chapters, which were later collected into 16 tankōbon volumes. In its original publication, it was known as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3 Platinum Kujo: Heritage for the Future.[a] The arc was preceded by Battle Tendency and followed by Diamond Is Unbreakable.

In 2012, Stardust Crusaders was digitally colored and released as digital downloads for smartphones and tablet computers. A ten-volume hardcover re-release under the title JoJonium[b] was published in 2014 and 2015.[2] Viz Media initially released the sixteen-volume format of the arc in North America between 2005 and 2010. They released the hardcover format from 2016 to 2019.[3]

It is the most popular arc of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series as it introduced the audience to the concept of Stands, which differentiated it from its predecessors.[4][5] This popularity later spawned video games, a three volume drama CD series, two novels and two OVA series of this arc alone. An anime television adaptation by David Production, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, aired in Japan between April 2014 and June 2015.[6]

Stardust Crusaders also stands out as the only arc of the series to gain any notable western exposure prior to the release of the anime series by David Production in 2012, due to the 1993 OVA series, 1999 video game and the English releases of the manga in 2005–2010.

Plot

The story begins in 1988, centered on Platinum Kujo, grandson of Joseph Joestar. Platinum has been arrested, and refuses to leave his cell, believing he is possessed by an evil spirit. After being called by Holly, Joseph's daughter and Platinum's mother, Joseph arrives with an associate, Mohammed Avdol. They explain that Platinum's "evil spirit" is actually a manifestation of his fighting spirit, called a Stand, and reveal that they possess Stands as well. Joseph explains that the sudden appearance of their Stands is caused by the nemesis of his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar: Dio Brando, now referred to simply as Dio. Dio has survived his battle with Jonathan by decapitating his nemesis's corpse and attaching his own head to it. Now preparing for global conquest, Dio has awoken his own Stand (which awakens the Stands of the rest of the Joestar bloodline due to his use of Jonathan's body) and recruited Stand-using assassins to kill Jonathan's remaining descendants. Soon after, Platinum uses his Stand, which is later named Star Platinum, to defeat the first of these assassins, a transfer student named Noriaki Hierophant, before freeing Hierophant from Dio's control by removing a parasitic flesh bud from him. Holly soon becomes gravely ill due to a Stand manifesting in her, which is slowly killing her due to her reserved personality. With little hesitation, Platinum, Joseph, Avdol, and Hierophant begin a journey to Egypt to kill Dio and save Holly's life. On the way, they defeat another brainwashed assassin named Jean Pierre Polnareff who later joins the quest to kill Dio and avenge the death of his sister, whose murderer is among Dio's forces.

Forced to travel on foot after Dio's assassins manage to foil their travel by plane and ship, the group encounter Hol Horse and the murderer of Polnareff's sister, J. Geil, in Calcutta, with Avdol seemingly killed during the confrontation. Polnareff kills J. Geil with Hierophant's help, and the remaining group travels further into Pakistan. After defeating Geil's mother, a Dio loyalist named Enya, the group reach the Red Sea, where Polnareff learns Avdol faked his death to acquire a submarine that allows them to reach Egypt.

Upon arriving in Abu Simbel, the heroes are joined by Iggy, a Boston Terrier with a Stand of his own, while facing the first of nine Stands named after Egyptian deities (rather than the tarot theme of before). Hierophant is wounded in the fight, and is taken to a hospital to recuperate. After the group defeats several more Stand users while reaching Cairo, Iggy discovers and leads them to Dio's mansion, with Hierophant rejoining them. At the mansion's entrance, the party is split up- Platinum, Joseph, and Hierophant fight the last of the nine Egyptian god Stands, while Polnareff, Avdol, and Iggy make their way through the mansion. However, one of Dio's servants, Vanilla Ice, kills Avdol and Iggy, both of whom separately sacrifice themselves to save Polnareff. An enraged Polnareff battles Vanilla Ice and discovers that Vanilla Ice has been transformed into a vampire like Dio, a fact that Vanilla Ice himself was unaware of. Polnareff floods the room with light, disintegrating Vanilla Ice and avenging his friends.

Platinum, Joseph, Hierophant, and Polnareff ultimately encounter Dio, and escape his mansion. A chase across Cairo follows, leading to Hierophant confronting Dio and his Stand, The World, whose power Dio has taken great lengths to keep secret (having previously assassinated Enya to keep her from telling the heroes). Though fatally wounded by The World, Hierophant manages to deduce the Stand's ability to stop time for five seconds and covertly relays it to Joseph in his final moments. Joseph is able to pass it on to Platinum, but is swiftly killed by Dio, who uses his blood to increase the duration of his ability to nine seconds. With most of his allies dead and Polnareff unconscious, Platinum is left to fight Dio alone. During the fight, both sides discover that their respective Stands are similar in both range, power, and ability, meaning that Platinum is able to use The World's time-stopping powers as well. Platinum first uses this ability to briefly move around while Dio has stopped time, but he learns how to stop time directly when Dio tries to crush him with a road roller. Dio attempts to kill Platinum with one final kick, but a counterattack from Platinum splits The World in two, killing it and Dio. Platinum transfuses Dio's blood back into Joseph and uses Star Platinum to restart his stopped heart (an ability he'd previously used on himself while playing dead during the fight with Dio), reviving him. The two Joestars then expose Dio's corpse to the sun, destroying the vampire for good. Platinum and Joseph bid Polnareff farewell before returning to Japan, as Holly has made a full recovery.

Characters

Platinum Kujo[c] is the delinquent protagonist. He uses the Stand Star Platinum,[d] whose power is incredible strength, speed, and precision. It is later revealed that Star Platinum also has the power to stop time, which helps him during the final battle with Dio.
Joseph Joestar[e] is Platinum's grandfather, and the protagonist of the previous part of the series, Battle Tendency. He uses the Stand Hermit Purple,[f] which allows him to produce thorny purple vines that can perform predictions through electronic equipment such as Polaroid cameras or televisions (although at the cost of destroying said equipment); he can also use them to attach to buildings and swing through the air. He also still has access to the vampire-killing martial art known as Hamon, which was his primary ability in Battle Tendency, and can use Hermit Purple as wires to channel Hamon energy, which he uses in the fight with Dio to prevent the vampire from directly attacking him.
Mohammed Avdol[g] is a fortune teller from Cairo, and an ally of Joseph and Platinum. He uses the Stand Magician's Red,[h] which allows him to manipulate fire.
Noriaki Hierophant[i] is a former enemy turned ally of Platinum. Hierophant believed himself a social outcast due to his Stand, which continued up until he met Platinum. He uses the Stand Hierophant Green,[j] which he can unravel into threads to enter people and control them from the inside, or perform a long-ranged attack using blasts of green energy known as Emerald Splash.[k]
Jean Pierre Polnareff[l] is another former enemy turned ally of Platinum. Polnareff joins the crew to avenge his younger sister, who was murdered by a man with two right hands. Polnareff uses the Stand Silver Chariot,[m] which takes the form of an armored knight wielding a rapier, excelling in fast swordsmanship and close-range fighting; his Stand can shed its armor to increase its agility and speed exponentially. He can also shoot his sword but only once in the battle.
Iggy[n] is a Boston Terrier who uses the Stand,The Fool,[o] which manipulates sand and dust.
Holly Kujo[p] is the daughter of Joseph and the mother of Platinum. Although most Stands are used for fighting, her unnamed Stand works against her gentle, non-violent soul, slowly making her increasingly sick. It takes on the form of vines with roses and berries.
Dio,[q] the main antagonist, is a vampire who previously appeared in Phantom Blood. After being presumed dead for 100 years, he has returned from his slumber and attached his disembodied head to the decapitated corpse of his longtime foe, Jonathan Joestar. He uses the Stand The World,[r] a high-power, short-range Stand similar to Star Platinum, which is capable of stopping time for brief intervals.
Enya the Hag[s] is an old woman, who is the confidant of Dio. She uses the Stand Justice,[t] which takes the form of a mist that takes control over anyone with an open wound, allowing Enya to control them as she would a marionette.
Hol Horse[u] is a recurring minor antagonist who nearly killed Mohammad Avdol (with the assistance of J. Geil) using his Stand Emperor,[v] a long range Stand resembling a gun that can shoot and steer its bullets.
J. Geil[w] is the son of Enya the Hag, and the man who murdered Polnareff's sister, prompting Polnareff to avenge her. J. Geil wields the Stand Hanged Man,[x] a Stand that attacks others in reflections such as mirrors. Hanged Man can also jump from reflection to reflection in a ray of light.
