Visiting Spain
I went to Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona, from 17th to 24th March, 2009. Our group had 7 members, who love Spain. 3 of them were men and one of them had already gone to Spain about 3 weeks before. For 2 of them it was their first visit to Spain, including me. There was a woman who had visited there about 30 years ago. Though I went abroad 11 times by pack tour and 3 times by personal tour, it was the first time to join a group tour. I think a group tour has its merits and demerits. For example, our cap likes drinking. So, we had had beer and wine almost every lunch and dinner. Also, we had 2 big plans which cost much for me. But I canceled one of them, to watch the flamenco dancing. Honestly speaking, I was forced to borrow 100 Euros from a woman.
Anyway, the trip to Spain has deeply impressed me. The biggest one was the fire festival, Fallas in Valencia, which is said to be one of the three biggest festivals in Spain. I felt it was grander than anywhere in Europe or so. The second was a personal concert by our professional player with an ocarina. Listening to it, the youngest woman dried her tears and it brought tears to the eldest man’s eyes. As for me, I felt a tear coming. The third was when we listened to the pipe organ in the church of Santa Maria of Mar, I think. But, almost all the other members are sure to think the matador fighting against the bulls was the biggest. We could watch the first one in Valencia this year. So, only the finest matadors fought. But, I couldn’t help being moved to sympathy. 6 bulls of more than 530kg or so were killed. A woman in our group dropped back halfway and received blame by the Spaniards there.
In addition, a woman of our group had her bag picked at lunch on 18th. Of course, she told this to a police office with some persons’ help. On the day, her bag was returned by the police. But the cash and a digital camera were stolen.
