But why don’t we category it as a race which is suffering? The certain group of people is receiving the same kind of prejudice due to the same and unchangeable reason.
In the media publication, such sense is widely spread. The most impressive case that I have eve met is an advertisement in one of the most used online shopping apps—Taobao. In this case, Taobao was proposing for its “double 11” shopping festival, the most attractive shopping festival in China. The advertisement constructed a picture of an old-fashioned girl in some old clothes turned into a smart-wearing girl after shopping. The script on the picture was conducting meanings like:”Freshman of the semester? Don’t worry, Taobao helps you to dress like a junior.”(Taobao, (2016) Personally speaking, despite its commercial motives, I completely think this advertisement as a provocation to freshman in campus—even though it actually makes sense and there is logic among this: before going to university, kids in China do not decide what they wear. They are asked to wear school uniform in work days from primary school to high school. And most of the time in the weekend they are accompanied by their parents, so they still do not decide what to wear. Thus, as they go into university, everything is much different from what it used to be, they are no longer in the charge of their parents. They might be a little confusing in dressing, but it doesn’t mean every freshman had to be in that way.
However, when I do into the whys and wherefores of this phenomenon, I personally conclude the reasons onto the pursuit of efficiency. Freshmen are not as dump and crude as people think they are, instead, they are no worse than anyone. They tend to work harder in order to win collages’ trust. However, the only drawback of the group is that they lack experience and knowledge of the new field. This not only makes they look in congruous in a team, the lack of experience would also contribute to hesitation and confuses in work. And when people put all those elements together, they would just find the opposite of what they want—inefficiency. When people settle down to a job, they always need a period of time to get along with it, or in another word, to find patterns in this work. Before this pattern is found, people are not always familiar with the procedures and codes. As the commercial society develops and time matters more, people become less tolerant upon the progress. The worship for efficiency crowned freshmen with quaintness of disadvantages. Whatever, everyone would be a freshman, shouldn’t we have fewer complaints for this race?

The upper section of the poem depicted the wide scene of the plum blossom all over the mountain, using both realistic and analogy methods to manifest the traits and ventures of the plums, which respectively to be its purity and the tenacity that allows it to for on a freezing morning and is capable to be compared with the innocence of the snow. The lower section then talks about how the author loved the plums that he even wished to separate, or to copy himself into thousands of pieces and want to watch each plum blossom to bloom in the winter day. Thus,because of the same ventures that appeared on the plums and the poet, he was then able to transformed into the plum. Or in another word, those two thing, the blossom and the human became one. And this is a typical example of a spirit of venture makes two different things linked together and they are free to convert for each other , and by different things, I mainly mea a natural object and a creature. This is the hoary of Taoism, as people referred to as the Equality of things.(Y Z, Han. 2013) This theory firstly and well explained in the classic paragraph of Peripateticism, written by Zhuang-Tsi. Considering the plights in reality, Zhuang-Tsi viewed spiritual freedom as the ultimate idea of life. And that the same spirit is free to choose its physical form or its appearance as long as the spirit lives. Thus, as Lu considered himself to be pure and tough, just as the plums supposed to be in the winter wind, they were connected by the spirit of purity and tenacit. Technically speaking from the aspect of the Zhuang-Tsi theory, they were free to transform into one another—mainly means that Lu was free to transform into the plum blooms and then turn back to himself. Not only were they of the same spirit, but they also live in one another. This is a form of the fundamental element of dialectics in Taoism which is based on idealistic theories where spirit is the central of the universe.
The “Reflections on the Ancient Red Cliff--To the tune of Niannujiao” of Su Shi is also another classic of the Song dynasty’s poem, for thousands of years it is sang by hears and people with lofty ideals to express their ambitions to the world. The poem itself is also a success in its writing technic.To understand the poem, I may explain it by translating it to ordinary English:
“The Great River flows eastwards,
Sweeping away all the series of the history,
For thousands of years, valiants and heroes are no more.
West of the ancient fort, they say, stands The Red Cliff
Duke Zhou of the Three-Kingdoms’era used to fight a great war here.
Rocks pierce the sky, shore-tearing
Waves swirl into piles of snow.
What a glorious sweep of land,
Once a stage for so many a hero!
My thoughts drift to those years when Zhou
Had newly married the beautiful Qiao,
Vigour and valour aglow.
A feather fan and a silken hat in his hand,
He masterminded the fire-attack on the enemy,
Over a casual chat
To see their fleet perish, blow by blow.
Back from my mental vagrancy in that bygone age,
I must laugh at myself: letting sentiments grow
In an early age appeared grey hair on my head

By the time he wrote this song, he is already 47 years old. Ambitious as he used to be, he was no longer strong enough for fight for his dream any more. What’s more, he was so frustrated. He expressed the feeling of despise of thinking too much, which led him to grow grey hair in an early age. The truth turned out to be he was lowered state by the government because of some misunderstanding of the officer in the capital government. Comparing himself with Zhou, who happened to be in his 30s when he defeated his enemy and married an extraordinarily beautiful noble lady. Su felt so shameful. The beautiful scene of the mountain and the river encouraged him to chase for his dream, but it also gave him the feeling of failure and frustration. How he hoped to fight for himself again. There was contradiction in his mind, but he still choose to stay in where he was in stead of fighting. He wished that the spirit of heroes should remain in the great view of the mountain and rivers. From this point the philosophy in Su’s song bears resemblance to that in lLu’s poem. Su was inactive, he gave up his faith in making a bright future for himself as well as for the country and started to find spiritual consolation from nature.He hoped to go beyond time and select a certain spirit to dedicate to the time. Such views of Su’s poem is typical idealistic. In this way the spirit is not again limited by time, it is free to combine with a certain natural object(Meng, Q. L., & University, L. 2015). Personally speaking, I regard such idea as the first time people try to break the limitation brought by the concept of time. Time is actually a physical concept, but in the far ending of the philosophy, physic and philosophy collapse and they become one, just as the spirit and material may combine in the universe we live.

In this article, it is to argue that “green roof” is more advantageous for my hometown by presenting some advantages to using it over the other.

Despite the fact that the white roof offers the greatest economic return, the green roof controls runoff and prevents air pollution. White roof can reflect the sun, so as to cool the building. In addition, its installation and maintenance costs are much lower than the green roof (Scott, 2006). But some of the benefits of green roofs can not be provided by the white roof: vegetation helps the city purify the air and provide a quiet place for the residents. They can even be used as sustainable urban farms to reduce the amount of food imported from outside the city, resulting in a chain reaction that can withstand climate change and traffic pressure in a wider area, and a green roof can also store water in the plant. It is effective in reducing urban heat and runoff (Scott, 2006). These systems can also filter water containing less contaminants. So green roof can effectively reduce urban air pollution. Although the cost is higher than the white roof, the green roof can have longer life as it protects the roof surface.

Therefore, the green roof has more advantages in the improvement of environment in my hometown plagued by smog. Nowadays, the recurrence of it in Beijing has deep-seated reasons in China's rapid industrialization, and urbanization process. High energy consumption, high emissions, heavy pollution, overcapacity, unreasonable layout, excessive energy consumption, coal-based energy structure, and rapid growth in motor vehicle ownership lead to a substantial increase in pollution emissions. The smog of Beijing began to intensify, and got out of control in recent years. The environment has self-healing ability. With dilution, diffusion, oxidation and other physical and chemical effects, pollutants gradually disappear, which is self-purification capacity of environment. But the pollutants accumulated to a certain number and went over the limits of environmental self-purification. The green roof covered with vegetation on the roof is functioning as a park in the city to improve self-healing ability by reducing the heat island effect that causes the city's temperature rise, and to prevent floods by absorbing rainwater. Also, PM can be removed from the air while the plants are reducing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, and improve air quality. Thus, green roof is conducive to slow the smog in Beijing.

Although “white roof” is an inexpensive and effective roof in heat absorption and is easy to operate, “green roof” is complicated but useful not only in urban heat but also in air pollution as well. Thus, the latter is more effective in improvement of environment in my hometown.

Even though as an oversea student language barrier is the primary obstacle, I believe I would become more confident in language and communication skills through the college years. Living and studying in a foreign culture without the protection of parents and relatives was an overwhelming challenge at first. I was frustrated and lost focus for quite a while. Indeed, language learning is such a rewarding exercise. I used to have high expectation for myself but the awkwardness and embarrassment I felt in tutorials when classmates heatedly discuss questions posed by tutors made me have a sense of self-consciousness. But failure is only failure unless you learn from it. I learnt first-hand that if you fail to prepare yourself for a new challenge, then you may prepare to fail. From that point on, I learnt the importance of holding a modest and growing mindset in learning language. I had made several close friends during my language studying in college and we often use our spare time to participate extracurricular activities. Generally speaking, to blend in the American and Western culture, which sometimes proves to be harder than achieving distinctions in academic performance, together with the language confusion in communication are the biggest obstacles for me studying in the United States at first. To study and live in a totally different culture is never a piece of cake for me. The basic necessities of life can become a major concern and has everything to do with the quality of my life. The number one problem facing me is where to live and it is always easier said than done. I learned to negotiate with the rental agency to argue for a desirable room at a reasonable price; and I had to stand out for my own interests such as filling in complaint forms to avoid any violation of my rights. With the passage time I faced different situations where everyday problems used to be obstacles that are unable for me to overcome. Be in a foreign environment, I feel the exposure to various challenges from every aspect of life such as transport issues and accommodation problems. It was really frustrating during the first few months. However, these are great chances to test my ability to adapt to new challenges and these lessons can be learned no other way. I am glad to see myself succeeding in cope with difficulties efficiently later on. For many Chinese students to study overseas means to get gilded, to polish personal profile, and make their resumes more appealing. However, the truth is that this studying experience does not only contain glamourous moments such as graduation ceremony, in fact, a considerable amount of time is spent in library researching course materials, in discussing group assignments with group members, and in preparing for exams. But what is heartening is that I do achieve a lot, improve a lot, and become more mature during this precious period of development especially when compared to the younger version of me years ago.
Last but not least, I expect to see my growth in both professional and emotional, intelligent and mental aspects. Living without the immediate support from families, I can sometimes easily feel powerlessness and vulnerable to emotional instability, especially during the initial period of time. As with the adaptive phase coming to a close, I can feel the increasing level of confidence in my heart. My schedule and timetable became more colorful and fulfilling and I can truly enjoy life at university without any discomfort I used to felt. In addition to that, the emotional expense of studying abroad is not a trivial concern. Loneliness used to be my frequent guest. Timidity cost me various opportunities to make more local friends and to experience more meaningful activities. I have tried hard to change the adverse situation by actively starting conversations with people and doing extensive reading to equip my mind with informative ideas and thoughts so as to make the exchange of opinions more constructive. Although it was difficult at first and failures were always waiting next door, I never gave up trying. I learn how to give myself emotional first aid when needed and my friends like to consult my opinions on different things. All these positive changes are those I did not foresee during my depressed phase of adaption. It is no exaggeration to say that these years’ of study abroad have rebuild my character to become more resilient, dependable, and independent-minded. Every success comes from a period of diligent preparation and the past few years saw my heartening growth in professional knowledge as well as mentality. On retrospect, I find my position on the stage of campus life later with the ending of my adaptive phase, and waltz boldly to the center has proved to be a very rewarding and worthwhile challenge to take. I feel that this is not my destination of study, it should be a new beginning at a higher level instead. I actually feel proud to succeed in adapting myself to life at American university. This unique experience cannot be easily replicated elsewhere and would have profound influence in the building of my characters.
In conclusion, studying in college provides me with a unique and meaningful opportunity to discover where my interests lie. Even though academic achievements plays a significant part during these four-year period, I believe that college opens a more colourful world to me with congenial friends and insightful professors. More importantly, what I surely can gain from this learning experience also includes the establishment of my basic world view and thorough understanding of my own characters. All these perspectives and constructive attitudes will help set the tone of my life trajectory.
