Worth という単語、価値がある（形容詞）とか価値（名詞）という意味がありますが、なかなかに厄介なやつでもあります。
まずは名詞としての「価値」
The bag was of little worth since it was old and in bad condition.
ブランドのバッグでもね～、手入れしないと価値はガタ落ちですよね～。
そして、形容詞。①「同等の価値がある」②「する価値がある」
① Our house is worth 50,000,000 yen.
The car is not worth more than $2,000.
② This problem is worth our attention.
It's worth memorizing the poem.
Worth it という使い方もあります。
The member fee was so expensive at the gym, but It was worth it for my health.
会員費はすごく高くついたけど、健康には良かったわ。
ここで、形容詞として取り上げている②ですが、前置詞的に使うことが多いのです。Merriam-Webster では形容詞でなくて前置詞として紹介してます。
例えば、
Merriam-Webster の例から見ると、
The corporation is worth billions of dollars.
An idea well worth consideration （考慮する価値のあるアイデア）
The book is not worth reading.
などがありますが、worth + 冠詞 + 名詞という組み合わせがあります。
Chicago is worth a visit.
There was a long line at the restaurant, but their food was so good and it was worth a wait.
Visit、waitはともに訪問、待つことという名詞になるのです。ここで、worth が形容詞だからといって、worth to visit とか worth to wait にはならないことに注意が必要なんです！前置詞として考えると to はつかないですね。使ってみてください！
