今回は、会話中のちょっとした一言をご紹介致します
話している時、「ちょっと意味がよくわからなかった・・・」「ここでこの一言を言いたいんだけど・・・」と思うことは、英語で話している時によくある事だと思います。
そんな時にこれからご紹介する「ひとこと英語」を上手に使って、会話を楽しんで頂ければと思います

今回は仮定法です
仮定法は、微妙で多彩な気持ちを伝えるための感情表現のツールです。
微妙な胸の内まで伝え表現し、外国の人たちと心に響くコミュニケーションを楽しめるようになって頂ければと思いますぜひチャターラウンジレッスンでの会話にも活かしてみてくださいませ
これからお出しする例文の中で特にご注目頂きたい点は、英文が過去形になっていても、日本語は現在形になっている点です。
仮定法の一つとして、あえて「もしも～ならば」と仮の話をする事により、願望などの気持ちを婉曲に言い表そうとします。
そこで、仮定であることを示す目印として、現在のことについて話していても過去形を使っているのです。
それでは、声に出して練習してみてくださいませ
would [～だろうに]（推測）
could [～できるのに]（可能性）
might [～かもしれないのに]（wouldより確実性が小さい推測）
should [～すべきなのに]（義務）
If I had more money, I would go traveling abroad.
もっとお金があれば、外国旅行に行くのになあ。
If you worked out harder, you could lose weight sooner.
もっと一生懸命にエクササイズをすれば、すぐに体重を減らせるよ。
I might join the party if I had time
.
時間があれば、パーティーに参加するかもしれないのだけど。
She should find a better job if she improved her English.
英語力をもっと磨けば、彼女にはもっといい仕事がみつかるはずなのに。

★if節にbe動詞がある仮定法には「were」を使います。

. I work at the Hakodate campus. I’ve traveled to many countries and have had many wonderful, fun and unique experiences. Let me share with you a funny experience I’ve had in Japan

When I first came to Japan, I stayed in Sapporo near Maruyama. On my second day of training, I ran into a friend of a friend at the Odori campus
. Needless to say, we were very surprised to see each other
. She gave me her cell-phone number and told me to call her, but I didn’t have a cell-phone yet
. At that time, I didn’t know any Japanese and was unfamiliar with how to use public phones in Japan. But I was lucky, and there was a phone at the place where I was staying.
About 3 or 4 days later, I decided to give my friend a call. The phone was on the wall, so I picked it up and examined it carefully. I thought it was strange that there weren’t any numbers like a regular phone. But there was this big button in the centre with red kanji. ?? I thought to myself that maybe if I pushed this button, it would get me an outside line or an operator. So I pressed it a bit, but nothing happened. I stood staring at the phone for a few seconds and then decided to press the button a bit harder and longer. 
Well, when I did that a siren started to make a loud noise and scared me so much
I jumped back
I immediately thought I’d called Japan’s version of 911I pressed the button again and the siren stopped. WhewAll was good…until the phone rang about 15 minutes later and a man spoke to me in Japanese. I had no idea what he was saying, and mumbled to him in English, then hung up. He called back again and spoke to me, but I still didn’t understand him. I apologized and hung up. I had to get ready for training, so I started to iron my clothes. 
About 20 minutes later, my doorbell rang and I hesitantly answered it. It was the man from the phone, who came in and talked to me in Japanese and pointed to the phone. He seemed to be scolding me for what I’d done, so I nodded my head and told him I was sorry. 
From that moment on I decided I would not press anymore buttons unless I knew what they were for.

Halloweenハロウィンでしたね
毎年とても好評のHalloweenPartyを2008年も各スクールにて開催致しました！！
スタッフ全員の仮装はもちろん、とてもたくさんの生徒さん達もさまざまな仮装をしてきてくださり、スクール内はHalloweenの雰囲気たっぷりに。
また生徒さんに限らず、ご友人やご家族もご参加くださり、軽食やドリンクをつまみながらHalloweenを通して外国文化を楽しんで頂きました

「Trick or treat!」（ご褒美くれないといたずらするぞ）←皆さん、こちらの意味をご存知ですか？？
外国文化のひとつ、Halloweenの日になると、「Trick or treat!」と言って近所を回り、そうするとお菓子をもらう事が出来るのです。
Halloweenである10月の最後の日（31日）は、世界中の多くの国々の子どもや大人達が楽しく大いに騒ぐことができる日です。
Halloweenの夜、子どもは様々な
お化けなどのコスチュームを付け、近所の家をまわって「トリック・オア・トリート (trick or treat ：ご褒美をくれないといたずらするぞ)」 と叫びます。
子ども達は、キャンディやチョコレートをトリート（ご褒美）としてもらいます。もしトリートが気に入らなければ、いたずらをして良いことになっています。
子ども達に、「Trick or treat!」といわれたら「Happy Halloween！」と応えてお菓子を渡します。
今ではすっかり日本でもお馴染みとなり、世界各地で楽しまれているHalloweenですが、元は数千年前のケルト民族が行った収穫を感謝するお祭りでした。
