幼名は虎次郎。
１１才で初段、１５才で四段となり、名を秀策と改める。
秀策二段(１４歳)が太田雄蔵六段に先番。
現代のコミのある碁から見る、ゆっくりした布石の打ち方です。
でも、何となく中央が手厚くなり、自然と地がついてくる感じが秀策の持ち味です。
When we think of Honinbo, Honinbo Shusaku is definitley one of the most prominent.
His childhood name was Torajirou.
He became 1p at 11, and at 15years old, he became 4p and his name became Shusaku.
This is a game between Shusaku 2p (14yo) and Yuzo Oota 6p(36yo). (Shusaku playing black)
Compared to the games we play today with Comi, it's an unhurried way of playing Fuseki.
But, the centre becomes steady and the way the territory seems to naturally come together is a quality of Shusaku.

Finished with 242 moves, Black wins by 5 points
