Room to Read に寄付しました

２０１１年３月〜８月までの受講生の皆さんの月会費より、
Room to Readに、1,712米ドルの寄付を行うことができました。

Room to Read は、貧困のために子供たちに十分な教育を提供できない国に
図書館や学校を建てる活動をしている団体です。

受講生の皆さんの会費が途上国の子供たちの教育に役立っています。

Your investment allows us to continue to set bold goals in 2011, reaching millions of children in Asia and Africa with educational opportunity. With over 10 years of experience working in the field, monitoring our results and honing our model, Room to Read is applying lessons learned in significant ways to promote literacy and gender equality in education. This year, we will reach an additional one million children by establishing 1,900 bi-lingual libraries, publishing 157 local language children’s books, building over 140 schools, training thousands of teachers and librarians and providing continuing education to over 13,000 girls through secondary school. We strongly believe that there is no more valuable investment than education and the life change it provides.

Our efforts are focused in nine countries, all with a desperate lack of educational resources: Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zambia. With the generous support of investors like you, we plan to reach six million children through our educational programs by the end of 2011. 親愛なる日本の皆様へ Room to Readの役員会、そして世界中のスタッフとボランティアを代表して、私はエリン・ガンジュとともに、壊滅的な地震と津波の被害を受けた日本の方々に心よりお見舞いを申し上げ、犠牲になられた方々に深い哀悼の意を表します。破壊と悲しみを伝える映像や画像、さらに進行中の複数の原子力発電所の問題には、痛ましさと恐ろしさを感じます。この大変な困難の時、Room to Readの全員が全面的に日本の方々を支援していることを、お伝えしたく思います。私たちは日本の方々が、勇気と決意をもって国を再建するであろうことを、確信しています。 人道救援と復興援助を支援するため、Room to Readでは無拘束資金から、日本赤十字社に寄付を行うことにしました。日本赤十字社は、現在学校や公共の建物の仮設センターから、医療援助にあたっています。 Room to Readは、スリランカが2004年末の悲劇に見舞われた際、教育基盤の再建に積極的に関わりました。何よりも私たちの心を動かしたのは、多くの家族やコミュニティが回復力を発揮し、粘り強く再建まで努力したその姿です。私たちは日本を何度も訪問したことがありますが、日本人に同様の精神と意志の強さを感じ、それこそが日本が素晴らしい国、そして世界をリードする経済国である所以だと理解しています。日本は悲しみを乗り越えた後、力を合わせて、この恐るべき悲劇に襲われた地域を再建し、助けていくものと信じています。 今週は、サンフランシスコで開かれる年一度のチャプター・リーダーシップ・コンファレンスが開かれます。そこに集う私たちは、犠牲となられた方々とそのご家族に、黙祷を捧げさせていただきます。日本の方々のことを心から思い、お祈りしています。 ジョン・ウッド エリン・ガンジュ Dear Friends, On behalf of Room to Read's Board of Directors, and our worldwide staff and volunteers, Erin and I want to express our deepest, heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The images of sorrow and destruction, coupled with the ongoing problems at multiple nuclear power plants, are both tragic and frightening. During these difficult times, please know that everyone at Room to Read is standing firmly behind the Japanese people who will undoubtedly rebuild their country with courage and determination. To support the humanitarian relief and reconstruction efforts, Room to Read will be making a donation from unrestricted funds to the Japanese Red Cross Society which is now providing medical assistance at temporary centers housed in schools and public buildings. Room to Read was very involved in the rebuilding of the educational infrastructure in Sri Lanka following their tragedy in late 2004, and What most inspired us were the many families and communities found that ways to be resilient, and to eventually rebuild. Having both traveled to Japan on many occasions, we know that this same spirit and determination are key reasons for why Japan is a great nation, and one of the world’s leading economies. We are confident that the country will, after a period of mourning, come together to aid and rebuild the communities that have been hit by this terrible tragedy. As we gather this week for our annual Chapter Leadership Conference in San Francisco, we will bow our heads for a moment of silence to honor the victims and their families. 当教室の2010年9月〜2011年2月までの月会費収入の１割、２３万５０００円を
日本赤十字社に本日、東北関東大震災の義援金として寄付いたしました。

少しでも多くの方に、必要な支援が届きますことを心よりお祈りいたします。

義援金の窓口は、勤務先や身近な店舗にも設置されているところが増えていますが、
忙しくて、まとまったお金を振り込みにいけない、という方には

大阪教育ゆめ基金へ寄付

大阪教育ゆめ基金にも、９月24日付で110,000円を寄付しました。

未来の社会をつくる子供たちの教育に、
受講生さんの会費を役立てさせていただいています。

昨年度、大阪の教育に役立てていただくために行った２回の寄付に対し、先日、大阪府から感謝状をいただきました。

去る７月１３日の感謝状贈呈式に、教室を代表して Class３の小椋亜紀子さんが参加してきてくれました！

2010年３月10日付で、大阪府教育ゆめ基金に、９５，０００円の寄付を行うことができました。

この基金は、大阪府の小中学生の教育のために使われます。

教育を今以上に、社会で担っていくことに賛成です。

一人一人が生き生きと活躍できる社会が、安全で安心で発展する社会。
そんな社会をつくることで私たちも幸せになります。
そのために最も大切なのは、教育。

誰もが適切な教育を受けられる世の中であってほしいと思います。

大阪教育ゆめ基金に７万１千円寄付しました！

先日、Room To Readに会費５％分の寄付を行ったときに、残りの５％分の７万１千円を、
大阪府の小中学生の教育のために使われる基金、

大阪教育ゆめ基金に寄付を行う申し込みをしていました。

手続きに多少時間がかかったのと、その後、ブログに掲載をしそびれていましたが、
ここに、報告いたします。

当初は、世界の貧しい国々の子供たちの教育に全額寄付をと思っていましたが、
大阪にも、家庭環境などに恵まれない子供たちがいます。

どの子もまっすぐに育ち、輝く明日の大阪を創っていってくれますように。


なぜかこれ以上大きな画像が登録できないようで。橋下知事の顔がこれでは
よく見えませんが、大阪府のホームページのと同じ写真でした。

Room to Readに＄７７０寄付しました

北千里教室は、開校前から授業料収入の１０％を社会のために寄付する方針を決めていました。

このたび、2009年8月末日までの月会費収入をまとめ、142,100円を寄付することになりました。
そのうちのおよそ半分にあたる額（US$770）をRoom to Readに寄付しました。

Room To Readは、このブログの左帯にリンクを貼っていますが、貧しい国々の教育を発展させる目的で、
学校を建てたり、図書館を建てている団体です。
John Woodさんという、元マイクロソフト役員の方が、地位も収入も捨てて始めた事業です。

世界にはまだまだ読み書きの教育すら受けられず、教育の不足により生活を改善
する知恵を持つことができない社会がたくさんあります。

生きていく知恵を培っていく上で、本の役割は本当に大きいと私も実感していますし、
John Woodさんの考えにたいへん共感を持っています。

みなさんからいただいた月会費の１０％は、今後もこういった格差を少しでも埋めていく活動に
寄付していきたいと考えています。
