旧約聖書は創世記 GENESIS（ジェネシス）から始まります。その第１章は、いわゆる天地創造のお話です。
マメ知識。キリスト教はユダヤ教を母体としており、イスラム教はキリスト教より派生したものです。キリスト教にとっては新約聖書、旧約聖書ともに正典（一番大事な書物）、ユダヤ教にとっては旧約聖書のみが正典です。イスラム教においては旧約聖書のことを「完全無欠」とたたえますが、新約聖書に関しては誤りが多いものとみし（イエスは神の子ではなく、モハメッドに先立つ偉大な預言者という見方をします）、コーランの記述を優先します。聖書のいろいろより

In the beginning（ビギニング：最初）, the world was empty（世界は エムプティ：空 だった）. Darkness（ダークネス：暗闇が） was everywhere（エヴゥリイウェア：あっちこっち にあった）. But God had a plan（しかし神は計画を持っていた）.
God separated（神は セパゥレイテッド：分けた） the light from the darkness（暗闇から光を）. "Let there be light!" he said（光よそこにあれと、神は言った）. And the light（光が） turned on（点いた）. He called the light "day"（神は昼と名付けた）. And he called the darkness "night"（そして彼は暗闇を夜と名付けた）. This was the end of the first day（これが最初の日であった）.
Then God said（神は言った）, "I will divide the waters（私は水を ディヴァイド：分ける）." He separated（神は分けた） the waters in the clouds above（上にある雲の中の水を） from the waters in the ocean below（下にあるオウスィアン：海 の水とを）. He called the space between them "sky"（神はそれらの間を空と名付けた） . This was the end of the second day（これが二つめの日であった） .
Next, God rolled（神は ゥロールド：巻いた） back the waters（水を後ろへ） and some dry ground appeared（そして乾いた グゥラウンド：土地 が アピアード：あらわれた）. He made（神は造った） plants of many shapes and colors（色んな色やかたちの植物）. He made mountains, hills, and valleys（神は山や谷や ヴァレイズ：谷 を作った）. This was the end of the third day（これが三つめの日であった）.
God put the shining sun in the sky（神は輝く太陽を空においた） for the daytime（デイタイム：昼間 のために）. He（神はおいた） put a glowing moon（ぼんやりかがやく月や） and twinkling stars（トゥインクリング：きらめく 星を） in the sky（空に） for the nighttime（ナイトタイム：夜 のために）. This was the end of the fourth day（これが四つめの日であった） .
On the fifth day（五つめの日）, God made（神は造った） swishy（スウイッシイ：すばしこい） fish and squiggly（スクイッグリイ：のたくる） creatures（クゥリイチャアズ：生きもの） to live in the ocean（海にすませるために）. Then God made birds to fly across the sky（そして神は空を飛びかう鳥を造った）.
On the sixth day（六つ目の日に）, God made animals（神は動物を造った） to creep（クゥリープ：はう）, crawl（クゥロウル：のそのそ歩く）, hop（飛び歩く）, and gallop（駆け足の）. Then from the dust（そして ダスト：塵、ごみ から）, God made the most wonderful creatures of all（神は最も素晴らしい生き物） - a person（つまり人）. God named him Adam（神は彼をアダムと名付けた）.
On the seventh（七つ目の日） day, God rested（神は ゥレスティッド：休んだ）.
