昨年末出版した「GRIT」が世界各国で読まれています。混沌として目的を持てない複雑な時代。「若者は今後どのように生き甲斐を見つければいいのだろうという」という人生最重要テーマを示唆している本書が多くの若者に支持されているようです。改めてご紹介します。編集部には「生きる勇気を貰った」という趣旨のメッセージが多くよせられています。よりよい人生を選択するために世界中の若者に読んでもらいたい。

This book, which suggests the most important theme of life, “How should young people find their purpose in life? We would like to introduce it to you once again. The editors have received many messages from young people saying, “I have been given the courage to live”. I saw an article about the publication of the children's book “GRIT” in the newspaper and introduced it to my acquaintances.
I read the book with tears and strength, as the main character's perseverance and struggle to rise up from a life of extreme poverty is just like “Oshin” (an inspiring movie aired all over the world).
This book is a must-read for everyone. I was bowed down from the bottom of my heart.

午後から仕事を休み、一気に読み終えました。夜はすでに一時過ぎになり、床のなかに入り眠らねばと焦りはしたものの、深夜の河原に、言語を絶する過酷な労働に骨身を削るひとりの小学六年生が脳裏をかけ巡り、とうとう朝まで一睡もできなかった。
あまりにも凄まじい苦難の実話でした。
激動の昭和に、しかも我が郷土に、明治、大正期に見る立志伝中の人物が実在したとは……。
この本こそ、一般人はもとより青少年必読の書といわずして何といえよう。

I took the afternoon off from work and finished reading the book in one sitting. That night after finishing the book, although I was impatient to get into bed and go to sleep, I could not sleep at all until morning as the image of the main character, a sixth grader who was grinding his bones under unspeakably hard labor, kept running through my mind.
It was a true story of extreme hardship.
I had no idea that such a successful person actually existed in my hometown during the turbulent Showa period. ......
This book is a must-read for the general public as well as for young people.
