Dear Stephen,

Thanks for grilling us mighty tasty bacon, sausages and eggs.
Those sandwiches were the best of I`ve ever had.
Thanks for fish and chips.
That snapper I can`t forget.
Thanks for letting us know that you don`t like pancake and french toast,
I don`t know why I thank for that but I thought that was kind of interesting.
but you liked my mom`s cooking repertory, especially Tempura and wonton soup.
Thanks.
Thanks for teaching us several game of playing card.
Most notably "Nomination whist".
Shooting your head with your pointing finger when you went "down" was quite amusing.
I also would like to thank you for keeping the score for the game.
We should`ve gave you extra point for that.

We had good time.
We laughed together.
There were a lot of laughs.
and your trade mark of sighs.
We made laughs out of your sighs.

Thanks for driving me and my sister to airport.
Thanks for buying and having a breakfast with us after we checked our luggage.
Glad we had that little moment of conversation. Etsuko was happy we sat and talked.
Smile on your face as we enter the gate was the one I remember.

Thanks for taking care of my parents after me and my sister left.

It was very sweet to see my father whose English weren`t so fluent,
although considering his 71 years old of age and for a person who never lived in
any English speaking country he had done pretty well, and you, Stephen, who has no intention to speak Japanese trying to communicate each other with slightly deaf ears common to men of both of your age.
Stephen goes "Beer?" and my father says "Yes."
My father was having good time.
Thanks.

I mean thanks for having us at all!
All Tanaka`s had such a great time with you!
Your English based cynical sense of humor were most
talked about by my family to me before I met you.
When I finally met you it was great.
You were silly man and that`s why we Tanaka`s are got along.

You were talking about coming to Japan and
we sure were excited to see you in our house.
My mom was already thinking about where you are gonna sleep
and the places we could`ve take to.
My dad was bummed that he was gonna buy new coffee maker like yours for when you came.

Too bad that couldn't happen.

but, hey!
I imagine it is easy to travel up there.
In a way,
you are lucky that you don`t have to suffer those stupid air ride for 13 hours.
You are very welcome to visit our house anytime.
We`ll think of you every time someone sigh or says "bugger". (even in Japanese.)

We all miss you Stephen.
I am glad we finally met.
I wish I had more time to hang out.
Oh, well.
Please take care of yourself up there.
and please watch over for people who you loved.

Rest in peace, sir.

Ryohei
