今日一日、学期末の事務的なことと、
明日からの「クリスマスお楽しみレッスン」の準備で頭はいっぱいでしたが、
やりたいことの半分も出来てません。
なんで～？
ズバリ！
やることが全て鈍いのです。
そんな仕事が捗らない時、
便りやメールや電話があると嬉しいですよね。
今年もそろそろかな～
私の宝物届くかしら～？
ホストファミリーからのSeason's greeting、彼是、30年続いてます。
写真は昨年のレターと写真、それにクリスマスプレゼントのピノキオです。
ピノキオは２代目、息子たちが小さい時にも送ってきてくれました。
たまたまですが、
昨年は夏休みのお楽しみに、「ピノキオ」DVD鑑賞
When we wish upon a star も歌いました。
そしたら、クリスマスのピノキオが送られてくるなんて・・
嬉しかったです。
↓のお手紙に、イタリア旅行とピノキオのことが書かれてます。
We send warm holiday greetings to each of you,
as we think of you fondly throughout the year but especially during this meaningful season.
Driving of Rome and Florence we arrived at Montecatini,
an ideal spot for our daily adventuring.
One day we climbed up to the delightful town of San Gimignano,
and another day we had fun trying to hold up to the leaning Tower of Pisa(with a little trick photography).
We wound up the mountains to go inside the Carrar Marble Quarry,
the source of Michelangelo's marble, and watched men still mining the huge blocks of stone for sculptures.
We traveled past Colodi, where Pinocchio was written, to Lucca, the home of Puccini,
where we heard an outstanding concert of arias.
As we look over this letter, we are struck by the frequent referenced to family.
At this season of the year, this seems especially appropriate.
The Christmas story tells of a family, in a time of conflict and difficulty, awaiting the birth of a child.
The child came, and the world was radically changed.
Our time also is characterized by conflict and difficulty.
But the Christmas story reminds us that in the midst of this nagativity,
hope and joy can emerge for us as
individuals and for our families.
May this season bring hope and joy to you and to those you love.
