Don't Forget the Invisible Trash! A Forest Eco-Life Story
Ricky the Squirrel, U-chan the Rabbit, and Kuu-chan the Bear are very careful about how they live in the forest.
Ricky’s “Zero Waste! Clever Storage Trick” Ricky loves to say, "We never waste our food!" While he sorts through nuts, he shows everyone his smart way to store them. If he finds a nut that is starting to go bad, he quickly tosses it far away. Only the fresh, long-lasting nuts make it into his little cheek pouches. "No rotten nuts allowed! Choose carefully so you can be safe all winter!" he cheerfully proclaims.
U-chan’s “Invisible Trash Clean-Up! The Cleaning Star” U-chan believes that a clean space is the secret to feeling great. She always uses one special spot near her burrow for her business and then covers it neatly with soil. "This way, it prevents sickness and keeps predators from finding me," she explains, perking up her long ears. "When you clean up even the invisible trash like smells and germs, you stay safe and healthy!" she adds with a bright smile.
Kuu-chan’s “Back to Nature! The Forest Cycle Master” Kuu-chan loves nature so much that he makes sure to return leftovers back to the earth. He scatters uneaten berries and even fish bones onto the forest floor, where they help feed the soil and grow new life. "This is the forest cycle! What is not needed can turn into something useful for everyone!" he declares with a hearty laugh.
Today, May 30 is Trash-Free Day. By sharing their clever habits, the friends spent a wonderful day together—learning from each other and keeping the forest clean and healthy.
Today's Key Word: Trash
Trash (ゴミ / Gomi): Trash is anything we throw away because we don’t need it anymore. By putting trash in the proper place, we help keep our world clean and safe. Even the invisible trash like germs and smells matters!
Example: "I put my trash in the bin after I finish my snack."
