不思議なカメラ．意外といい写りをする．操作はただ、安易に作られた
印象の小さな素通しのたぶんプラスチック製のファインファーを覗いて
アバウトに構図を決めて、シャッターを切るだけ．速度も絞りも固定だ．
ネット上にも情報は少なく、仕様の詳細は不明．晴れた日の戸外専用に
使うべき（トイ風）カメラ．つまり必然的に発生する？トンネル効果も
確認できる．四隅にある被写体が流れてしまう．それもおもしろいが．
感度100/36枚撮りの35mmカラーネガネガフィルムの半分ほどを使用．
撮影ごとに、巻き上げノブを１+1/2回転させる操作を．
フォーマットは35mmフルサイズの縦位置．
絞り：F8？のみ、速度：1/50秒？のみ

香港製らしい．中央部分の写りの、被写体のそのシャープさには魅力を
感じることも．本来は127規格のフィルムを使う機種の「Empire Baby」
しかし私は、ほとんど現行品の35mmを使うつもりでいる．安価に入手
できて現像の費用も安く済むからだ．気軽に撮影できるし．…だが今回、
たまにカメラの修理を依頼しているある店舗から、安価に127フィルム
を譲ってもらったので、さっそく使ってみることに．…このモノクロは
120フィルムを127のスプールに巻き替えたもので、専用の裏紙も使って．
おまけで127のカラーフィルムは無料で．他の127カメラで使ってみた．
Empire Baby
Don'ts Take pictures closer than 5 feet.
The Empire-Baby is an ultra-cheap, plastic novelty camera
that takes 127 film. Although it says "U.K." on the faceplate,
the camera was made in Hong Kong, as it says on the winding knob.
The Empire-Baby is under the "Crestline" heading in McKeown's,
but it's the exact same camera as the Wales-Baby and the Chase,
which were made by Haking (Hong Kong). It's also the same camera
as the Clix Midget. The rows of bumps along the top and bottom
remind me of upholstery tacks, but with the big red shutter lever,
I think the designer was going for a circus-clown look. Original box,
camera with strap, and instruction pamphlet.

The Empire Baby is a simple plastic viewfinder camera
with single speed shutter and "Optical Crystal Lens"
(nice circumscription for single convex element lens).
The camera's design was registered in the U.K. Its sales package
as well as the imprinting on its film advance knob says that it was
made in Hong Kong. Similar cameras were the Clix Midget,
the Wales Baby and the Halina Baby. Thus the maker
of all these cameras may have been Haking, the maker of the
Halina camera brand, but it's also reported that it was made in Macao,
too (probably not by Haking). The camera makes sixteen
2.8×3.3cm exposures on one roll of type No. 127 film.
