 昨年のURGE KENYA に続き、
今年は URGE NEPAL が始まります!!!

昨年のKenyaでは、マサイの人々への水を供給するためのNGO団体へ
10,000ユーロ寄付して帰ってきました。
今回の大会では、若者たちの流出&過疎化が深刻なNEPALにとってMTBが起爆剤となるよう、
地元出身ネパール人ライダーも参加し、地域を盛り上げる試み。
(ネパールでは、毎日400人以上の若者たちが、国を離れているそうです。)
今回はライダーたちのスポンサーからの寄付 ＋ ライダーたちの NEPAL仕様の
スペシャルカスタム・バイクやフレーム、ジャージなどを チャリティーオークションに
かけ、売り上げは全て寄付金とする企画。
寄付金でネパール・マウンテンバイクスクールを開校し、継続的に行うほか、
地元子どもたちが勉強する環境づくり(学校の建設費や子どもたちの文房具の購入)に
役立てられる予定。

Urge Népal – introduction :
Thanks to the success of the 2009 "URGE KENYA" edition and considering how much the engaged riders and the whole MTB planet did enjoy this event, Fabien Barel and Fred Glo, in association with Cap Liberté for organization and Altermondo for communication, decided to create a second edition of the "Fabien Barel Invitational".
His name is "URGE NEPAL"
The basis of our motivation comes from the Philosophy of URGE adventures : “this event is created by human people for human people. An amazing adventure, featuring humanitarian purpose.” (Fabien Barel)
This second event will go even further : the experience coming from URGE KENYA helps us in making URGE NEPAL going even further in terms of competition, of international communication and in terms of humanitarian action.
Urge Nepal will take place from the 27th of February until the 6th of March 2010.

We think about Mark Weir, a symbol of the Kenya edition. Mark wanted to come to Nepal, but his house burnt during Christmas period unfortunately. Mark, we send you a sincere salutation.
※Mark Weirは昨年のクリスマス、家が火事になったため、参加を断念・・・!
NEPALでは、
まず1日目、 Katmandu にライダーとスタッフ全員が落ち合い、Pokhara のホテルに泊る。
2日目、Jomson → Kagheni と移動し、民泊する。
3日目、MTBを、押したり、担いだりしながら、時には標高3500mに達する地点も通過し、
Marpha のロッジへ一泊。
4日目、標高3700mの Kaisang までたどり着く。
5日目、MTBを、ほとんど担いで、 Mesokunta La summit(標高5200m)山頂まで登りつめたら
そのまま一気にダウンヒル。全ての道のりはシングルトラック!!!!
しかも、下りきったその日のうちに (初日に泊った)Pokhara のホテルまで約50km自走!
そのまま、帰りの飛行機に乗った時点で、ゴール!
・・・という、まさにトップライダーにしかできない超過酷なレース!!
昨年KENYA大会では、トップライダーでさえも、高山病で倒れた選手もいたほどです。
NAPALの冬山は厳しいです。荷物もMTBも重い!!
がんばれ、ライダー!!!
今回 女性ライダー Sabrina Jonnier がどんな走りをしてくれるのかも
楽しみです!! こんな大会に、男の中に女一人だけで参加するなんて
チャレンジャーだっっっ!!!
