The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) is working to protect
people even if a major earthquake hits.
The JMA detects tremors the instant they happen and
issues an early earthquake warning to notify the public
before an earthquake strikes.
Even in places far away from an earthquake's epicenter,
tall buildings may shake quite a lot.
The JMA forecasts the size of long-period ground motion,
and communicates this information to people.
