卌三年秋九月庚子朔、依網屯倉阿弭古、捕異鳥、獻於天皇曰「臣、毎張網捕鳥、未曾得是鳥之類。故奇而獻之。」天皇召酒君、示鳥曰「是何鳥矣。」酒君對言「此鳥之類、多在百濟。得馴而能從人、亦捷飛之掠諸鳥。百濟俗號此鳥曰倶知。」是今時鷹也。乃授酒君令養馴、未幾時而得馴。酒君則、以韋緡著其足、以小鈴著其尾、居腕上、獻于天皇。是日、幸百舌鳥野而遊獵。時雌雉多起、乃放鷹令捕、忽獲數十雉。是月、甫定鷹甘部、故時人號其養鷹之處、曰鷹甘邑也。

In the forty-third year of the emperor's reign, on the first day of autumn in the ninth month, Abiko from the Yosami storehouse caught an unusual bird and presented it to the Emperor, saying, "I always set up nets to catch birds, but I have never caught such a bird before. It is rare, so I offer it to you."
The Emperor called over Sakenukimi and asked what kind of bird it was. Sakenokimi replied, "This type of bird is abundant in Baekje (百済). It is easily tamed and follows humans well. It flies swiftly and can catch various other birds. The people of Baekje call this bird 'Kuchi,' which is known today as a hawk."
The Emperor entrusted the hawk to Sakenokimi to be tamed. It didn’t take long for the hawk to become accustomed to humans. Sakenokimi attached a tanned leather strap to its leg and a small bell to its tail, and trained it to perch on his arm, which he then presented to the Emperor. On that day, the Emperor went hunting in Mozuno field. When numerous female pheasants took flight, the hawk was released and quickly caught several dozen pheasants. That month, the position of 'Takakaibe,' a falconry official, was established for the first time. The place where the hawk was kept came to be called 'Takakai no Mura' (Hawk Keeping Village).

天皇の在位四十三年目の秋の九月一日に、依網(よさみ)の屯倉(みやけ)にいた阿珥古(あびこ)という人物が珍しい鳥を捕まえ、天皇に献上しました。「いつも鳥を捕まえるために網を張っておりますが、こんな鳥は初めてです。珍しいので献上いたします」と申しました。
天皇は酒君(さけのきみ)をお呼びになり、「これはどんな鳥か」とお尋ねになりました。酒君は、「この種の鳥は百済(くだら)に多く見られます。人になつきやすく、速く飛び、様々な鳥を捕まえます。百済の人々はこの鳥を俱知(くち)、すなわち現在の鷹(たか)と呼んでいます」とお答えしました。
天皇は鷹を酒君にお預けになり、養育をさせました。すぐに鷹は人に慣れ、酒君は鷹の足に鞣(なめ)し革の紐と尾に小鈴をつけ、腕の上に止まるよう訓練し、天皇に献上しました。その日、天皇は百舌鳥野(もずの)で狩りを行われました。雌雉(めきぎし)が多く飛び立つと、鷹を放って捕らせ、すぐに数十羽の雉を捕まえられました。この月に、初めて鷹甘部(たかかいべ)という鷹狩りの官職を設けられました。その時、鷹を飼う場所を鷹飼邑(たかかいのむら)と名付けられました。
