『日本書紀』 素戔嗚尊の誓約3
一書曰、日神與素戔嗚尊、隔天安河、而相對乃立誓約曰「汝若不有奸賊之心者、汝所生子必男矣。如生男者、予以爲子而令治天原也。」於是、日神、先食其十握劒化生兒、瀛津嶋姬命、亦名市杵嶋姬命。又食九握劒化生兒、湍津姬命。又食八握劒化生兒、田霧姬命。巳而素戔嗚尊、含其左髻所纒五百箇御統之瓊而著於左手掌中、便化生男矣、則稱之曰「正哉吾勝。」故因名之曰勝速日天忍穗耳尊。復、含右髻之瓊、著於右手掌中、化生天穗日命。復、含嬰頸之瓊、著於左臂中、化生天津彥根命。又、自右臂中、化生活津彥根命。又、自左足中、化生熯之速日命。又、自右足中、化生熊野忍蹈命、亦名熊野忍隅命。其素戔嗚尊所生之兒皆已男矣、故日神方知素戔嗚尊元有赤心、便取其六男以爲日神之子、使治天原。卽以日神所生三女神者、使隆居于葦原中國之宇佐嶋矣、今在海北道中、號曰道主貴、此筑紫水沼君等祭神是也。熯、干也、此云備。
≪英訳≫
One account says, “Amaterasu and Susanoo-no-Mikoto stood facing each other across the heavenly river, AmanoYasukawa, and made an oath, saying, ‘If you have no treacherous intentions, your offspring shall all be male. If a male is born, I shall consider him my son and appoint him to govern the heavenly plain.’ Then, Amaterasu ate the offspring produced from the ten-handed sword first, and she named her Yatsutsu-shima-hime-no-mikoto, also known as Ichikishima-hime-no-mikoto. She then ate the offspring produced from the nine-handed sword, named Tawatsu-hime-no-mikoto. After that, she ate the offspring produced from the eight-handed sword, named Tamori-hime-no-mikoto. Afterward, Susanoo-no-Mikoto took the five hundred magatama jewels that were entwined in his left hair bun and placed them in his left palm. He then gave birth to a male deity and named him Masakatsu-wake-ikatsu-hayahi-amenotenokoto, calling him ‘Tadashiku Wo Ga Katashi.’ Thus, he became known as Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto. Next, he took the magatama jewels from his right hair bun and placed them in his right palm, giving birth to Ame-no-hohi-no-kami. He then took the magatama from the infant’s neck and placed it on his left arm, giving birth to Ame-no-tokotachi-no-kami. Furthermore, from his right arm, he gave birth to Ame-no-tokotachi-no-kami. From his left leg, Haya-haya-haya-hi-no-kami was born. From his right leg, Kumano-oshotomimizuchi-no-kami was born, also known as Kumano-oshosu-no-kami. All the children born of Susanoo-no-Mikoto were indeed male. Therefore, Amaterasu realized that Susanoo-no-Mikoto had a pure heart. She then took the six male deities born of Susanoo-no-Mikoto to be her sons and appointed them to govern the heavenly plain. As for the three female deities born of Amaterasu, she allowed them to dwell in the land of Usa-jima in the Ashihara no Nakatsukuni. They are currently in the Hokurikudo region, known as ‘Doshukushi,’ and they are worshipped by Lords of Chikushi, Mizuno-kami, and others. ‘Haya’ means ‘to be prepared.’”
