故復遣無名雌雉。此鳥下來爲天稚所射中其矢而上報云々。』是時高皇產靈尊乃用眞床覆衾 皇孫天津根火瓊瓊杵根尊。而排披天八重雲以奉降之。故稱此神曰天國饒石火瓊瓊杵尊。干時降到之處者。呼曰日向襲之高千穗添山峯矣。及其遊行之時也云々。』到干吾田笠狹之御碕。遂登長屋之竹嶋。乃巡覽其地者。彼有人焉。名曰事勝國勝長狹。天孫因問之曰。此誰國歟。對曰。是長狹所住之國也。然今乃奉上天孫矣。天孫又問曰。其於秀起浪穗之上起八尋殿而手玉玲瓏織経之少女者是誰之子女耶。答曰。大山祇神之女等。大號磐長姫。少號木花開耶姫。亦號豐吾田津姫云々。』皇孫因幸豐吾田津姫。則一夜而有身。皇孫疑之云々。』遂生火酢芹命。次生火折尊。亦號火火出見尊。母誓已驗。方知。實是皇孫之胤。然豐吾田津姫恨皇孫不與共言。皇孫憂之。乃爲歌之曰。憶企都茂幡。陛爾幡譽戻耐母。佐禰耐據茂。阿黨播怒介茂譽。播磨都智耐理譽。』
≪英訳≫
Once again, a nameless female pheasant was sent. The bird descended, shot for the sake of Ame no Wakahiko, and, hit by the arrow, ascended to deliver a report.
Takamimusubi no Mikoto, holding a true bed with him, adorned AmatsuHikoneho-no Ninigi no Mikoto, the Imperial Grandson, and parted the heavenly eightfold clouds to let them rain down. Hence, this deity is called Ame KuniNigishiHiko-no-Ninigi no Mikoto.
The place where this divine descent occurred is known as the peak of Takachiho on the slopes of the Hyuga Mountains.
On his way out, he visited the Misaki of Kasasa in Ata, and finally climbed up to Takeshima in Nagashima.
Upon inspecting the area, they encountered a person named Katsukunikatsunagasa. When the Heavenly Descendant inquired, “Whose country is this?” Katsukunikatsunagasa replied, “This is the land where Nagasa resides, but now it is dedicated to the Heavenly Descendant.”
Further questioning about the large palace on the rising waves and the girl spinning balls and weaving swiftly brought the response that these were the daughters of Ōyamatsumi no Kami: the elder named Iwanaga Hime and the younger named Konohana Sakuya Hime, also known as Toyoatatsuhime.
The Heavenly Grandson summoned Toyotamatsuhime and eventually gave birth to Hono Suseri-no-Mikoto and, later, to Hoori no Mikoto, also known as Hikohohodemino Mikoto.
The mother’s oath clearly proved the lineage, confirming that these were indeed the descendants of the Heavenly Grandson. However, Toyotamatsuhime harbored resentment and remained silent. Overcome with sadness, the Heavenly Grandson composed a poem:
“Though seaweed clings to the shore, my desired wife does not draw near, refusing even to share a sleeping mat with me. Oh, shore plovers, I envy your companionship."
≪この英文の和訳≫
そこで、また無名(ななしお)の雌雉(きぎし)を遣わしました。この鳥が飛び下り、天稚彦(あめわかひこの)ために射られ、その矢に当たって上り報告しました。
高皇産霊尊(たかみむすひのみこと)は真床覆衾(まどこおうふすま)をもち、皇孫の天津彦根火瓊瓊杵根尊(あまつひこねほのににぎねのみこと)に着せ、天八重雲(あまのやえくも)を押し分けて降らせました。その神を天国饒石彦火瓊瓊杵尊(あめくににぎしひこほのににぎのみこと)といいます。その天降りされた場所を呼んで、日向(ひむか)の襲(むか)の高千穗の添(そほり)の山峯(やまたけ)(日向の山の斜面にある高千穂の山の頂上)といいます。
お出でになる際に、吾田(あた)の笠狭(かささ)の御崎に訪れ、ついに長島(ながしま)の竹島(たけしま)に登りました。その地を巡り、そこに住む事勝国勝長狭(かつくにかつながさ)という人物に尋ねました。彼は、「ここは長狭が住む国ですが、今は天孫に奉ります」と答えました。
また、波頭の立つ波の上に建てられた大きな御殿と、手玉をころころと機織りをする少女について尋ねると、事勝国勝長狭は「大山祇神(おおやまつみのかみ)の娘たちで、姉を磐長姫(いわながひめ)、妹を木花咲耶姫(このはなさくやひめ)と言います。またの名を豊吾田津姫(とよあたつひめ)です」と答えました。
皇孫は豊吾田津姫を召し、火酢芹命(ほのすせりのみこと)と次に火折尊(ほおりのみこと)、またの名を火火出見尊(ひこほほでみのみこと)を生みました。母の誓いが証明され、皇孫の胤であることが確認されました。しかし、豊吾田津姫は皇孫を恨んで言葉を交わさず、皇孫は悲しみ、以下の歌を詠みました。
「オキツモハ、へニハヨレドモ、サネ卜コモ、アタハヌカモヨ、ハマツチ卜リヨ。」
沖の藻は浜辺に寄るけれど、思う妻は私に寄ることなく、寝る床も与えてくれない。浜千鳥よ、お前たちが二人でいることが羨ましい。
