『古事記』垂仁天皇 12
爾其御子、一宿婚肥長比賣。故、竊伺其美人者、蛇也、卽見畏遁逃。爾其肥長比賣患、光海原、自船追來。故、益見畏以自山多和此二字以音引越御船、逃上行也。於是覆奏言「因拜大神、大御子物詔、故參上來。」故、天皇歡喜、卽返菟上王、令造神宮。於是天皇、因其御子、定鳥取部・鳥甘部・品遲部・大湯坐・若湯坐。
≪英訳≫
At that time, the prince married Princess Hina-ga, overnight. However, when he tried to catch a glimpse of her, she appeared as a large serpent. Frightened by the sight, he ran away. The distressed Princess Hina-ga, shining across the sea, pursued him on a boat, but her fearsome appearance only increased his trepidation. In order to escape, he moved his boat over the mountain pass and came up to this place. There, he reported, 'I have come to the capital city because the prince said something.' The Emperor, pleased with this, returned the Prince of Unaga and ordered the construction of a shrine. Furthermore, the Emperor appointed various positions for the Prince: Tottori-be, Torikai, Homuji-be, Oyu-e, and Waka-yu-e.
≪この英文の和訳≫
その時、その皇子は一夜ヒナガ姫と結婚なさいました。しかし、ある時にその姫を覗き見ると、彼女は大蛇だったのです。皇子はその光景に恐れをなし、逃げ出しました。
心を重くしたヒナガ姫は、光を放ちながら船に乗り、皇子を追いかけてきましたが、ますます恐れられるばかりでした。そのため、山の峠まで船を引き上げ、逃げて上京し、天皇にお会いしました。そしてこう説明しました「出雲の大神にお祈りしたところ、大御子が物を仰せになりまして、それで上京して参りました」と。
天皇は喜ばれ、ウナガミの王を返して神宮を建てるように命じました。そして、その皇子のために鳥取部・鳥甘(とりかい)・品遲部(ほむじべ)・大湯坐(おおゆえ)・若湯坐という役職を定めました。
