『日本書紀』敏達天皇 12
日羅等、行到吉備兒嶋屯倉。朝庭遣大伴糠手子連而慰勞焉、復遣大夫等於難波館使訪日羅。是時、日羅被甲乘馬到門底下、乃進廳前、進退跪拜、歎恨而曰「於檜隈宮御㝢天皇之世、我君大伴金村大連、奉爲國家使於海表。火葦北國造刑部靫部阿利斯登之子・臣達率日羅、聞天皇召、恐畏來朝。」乃解其甲、奉於天皇。乃營館於阿斗桑市、使住日羅、供給隨欲。
≪英訳≫
Nichira (日羅) arrived at the Kibi no Kojima no Miyake (吉備児島屯倉). The court sent Ōtomo no Arateko no Muraji (大伴糠手子連) to offer comfort and encouragement. Additionally, a group of officials, including senior nobles (大夫, maetsukimi), was dispatched to the residence at Naniwa (難波館, Naniwa no Murotsumi) to visit Nichira.
At that time, Nichira, clad in armor and riding a horse, approached the gate. He advanced to the front of the governmental hall, where he respectfully knelt and bowed deeply. With a sorrowful expression, he declared:
“During the reign of Emperor Senka (檜隈宮御宇天皇), my lord, Ōtomo no Kanamura no Ōmuraji (大伴金村大連), sent me, Nichira, a tasotsu (達率) and son of Hi(肥) no Ashikita no Kuni no Miyatsuko Osakabe no Yukei Arishito (葦北国造刑部靫部阿利斯登), to serve the empire’s mission across the sea. Now, upon hearing that the Emperor has summoned me, I have returned, trembling with reverence and awe.”
With these words, Nichira removed his armor and respectfully presented it to the Emperor.
A residence (館, murotsumi) was constructed for Nichira at Ato no kuwaichi(阿斗 桑市), where he was accommodated. The court supplied him with whatever he desired, fulfilling his every need.
≪この英文の和訳≫
日羅(にちら)は吉備児島屯倉(きびのこじまのみやけ)に到着した。朝廷は大伴糠手子連(おおとものあらてこのむらじ)を遣わし、日羅を慰労した。また、大夫(まえつきみ)らを難波(なにわ)の館(むろつみ)に派遣し、日羅を訪ねさせた。
そのとき、日羅は甲冑を身につけ、馬に乗って門のところまでやってきた。そして政庁の前に進み、慎み深く跪(ひざまず)いて拝礼した。そして、深く感慨に浸りながら次のように申し述べた。
「檜隈宮(ひのくまのみや)で御宇(あめのしたしら)しめしておられた宣化天皇(せんかてんのう)の御代において、我が君である大伴金村大連(おおとものかなむらのおおむらじ)は、帝のために海外に使節を送られました。その使節とは、肥(ひ)の葦北国造(あしきたのくにのみやつこ)刑部靱部 阿利斯登(おさかべのゆけい ありしと)の子である達率(たつそつ)日羅であります。このたび、天皇がお召なされていると伺い、恐れかしこみ帰って参りました」。こう述べて、日羅はその甲冑を脱ぎ、それを天皇に奉った。
その後、阿斗桑市(あとのくわいち)に館(むろつみ)が設けられ、日羅はそこに住まわされた。朝廷は、日羅の願いのままに何でも支給された。
