『日本書紀』雄略天皇 21
八年春二月、遣身狹村主靑・檜隈民使博德、使於吳國。自天皇卽位至于是歲、新羅國背誕、苞苴不入於今八年、而大懼中國之心、脩好於高麗。由是、高麗王、遣精兵一百人守新羅。有頃、高麗軍士一人、取假歸國、時以新羅人爲典馬典馬、此云于麻柯毗而顧謂之曰「汝國爲吾國所破、非久矣。」一本云「汝國果成吾士、非久矣。」其典馬、聞之、陽患其腹退而在後、遂逃入國、說其所語。
於是、新羅王、乃知高麗僞守、遣使馳、告國人曰「人、殺家內所養鶏之雄者。」國人知意、盡殺國內所有高麗人。惟有遣高麗一人、乘間得脱、逃入其國、皆具爲說之。高麗王、卽發軍兵、屯聚筑足流城或本云、都久斯岐城、遂歌儛興樂。於是、新羅王、夜聞高麗軍四面歌儛、知賊盡入新羅地、乃使人於任那王曰「高麗王征伐我國、當此之時、若綴旒然、國之危殆、過於累卵、命之脩短、太所不計。伏請救於日本府行軍元帥等。」

In the spring of the eighth year of his reign, in February, emissaries Aoyama Murasushi and HinokumaTamitsukaiHakutoku were dispatched to the state of Wu(呉). From the time the emperor ascended the throne until this year, the state of Silla had been rebellious and had not sent tribute for eight years. Fearing NakatsuKuni (中国なかつくに→日本), Silla established friendly relations with Goguryeo(高句麗). Consequently, the king of Goguryeo sent one hundred elite soldiers to guard Silla.
After some time, one Goguryeo soldier, returning home on leave, mocked a Silla horse keeper, saying, "Your country will soon be destroyed by ours." According to another version, he said, "Your country will soon become our slaves." The horse keeper, pretending to have a stomachache, withdrew and eventually escaped to his own country to report what was said.
Upon learning this, the king of Silla realized the false protection from Goguryeo and sent a messenger to instruct his people, "Kill the roosters kept in your households." The people understood the meaning and killed all the Goguryeo soldiers within the country. Only one Goguryeo soldier managed to escape and return to his country to report everything.
The king of Goguryeo then dispatched troops to fortify and gather at Chikusokuryu Castle (or, according to another account, Tokusuki Castle), celebrating with songs and dances.
That night, the king of Silla, hearing the Goguryeo army singing and dancing all around, realized the enemy had completely infiltrated Silla territory. He then sent a messenger to the king of Imna(Mimana任那), saying, "The king of Goguryeo is attacking our country. At this moment, our nation's crisis is more precarious than a string of pearls or a pile of eggs. Life and death are beyond consideration. We humbly request aid from the military commander of Japanese Office in Mimana(Imna任那)."
≪この英文の和訳≫
(在位)八年の春、二月に、青山村主（あおやまむらぬし）と檜隈民使博徳（ひのくまたみつかいはくとく）を呉（ご）の国に派遣しました。天皇が即位してからこの年まで、新羅（しらぎ）は反逆し、八年間も朝貢をしていませんでした。中国(なかつくに 日本)を恐れて、新羅は高句麗（こうくり）と友好関係を築きました。そのため、高句麗の王は百人の精鋭兵を新羅の守備に送りました。しばらくして、一人の高句麗の兵士が休暇で帰国する際、新羅の馬飼いを嘲笑って、「お前の国はすぐに我々の国に滅ぼされるだろう」と言いました。別の話では、「お前の国はすぐに我々の奴隷になるだろう」と言ったとされています。その馬飼いは腹痛を装って退き、最終的に自国に逃げ帰ってこの話を報告しました。これを知った新羅の王は、高句麗の偽の守備を認識し、使者を送り、「家で飼っている雄鶏を殺せ」と指示しました。人々はその意味を理解し、国中にいるすべての高句麗人を殺しました。ただ一人の高句麗兵だけが逃げ帰り、全てを報告しました。高句麗の王は軍を派遣し、筑足流城〔（ちくそくりゅうじょう、または都久斯岐城（とくすきじょう）〕に集結し、歌や踊りで祝いを行いました。その夜、新羅の王は高句麗軍が四方で歌い踊るのを聞き、敵が完全に新羅の領土に侵入したことを知りました。そして、使者を任那（みまな）の王に送り、「高句麗の王が我が国を攻めています。この時、我が国の危機は、真珠の紐や卵の山のように不安定です。生死はもはや問題ではありません。(任那の)日本府の軍司令官に救援を願います」と言いました。
