裕也は、既に起きていた。着替えてキッチンに向かう。
食卓には、パンケーキとカップに牛の乳が入ったのものが乗っている。
「祐也急いで。
集会に間に合わなくなる。
おめかしもしたいし、
記念する日になるわよ」
エディケは、裕也を急（せ）かす。
「９時に出発よ」
エディケは、念を押す。
「分かりました」
祐也は、すでに出発の準備ができた。
そこに、戸がノックされた。
「エディケさん。裕也さん」
ガイドが、昨日の約束で来たのである。
裕也は、すっかり忘れていた。
エディケは、応対に出た。
「裕也さは、昨日、少し体を壊しまして、今日は一日休むそうです。
そう、学者にそうお伝えください」
ガイドは、「お大事になさってください」と一言いい。
何も疑わずに帰った。
エディケは、おめかしを終えた。
「アギ、あなたも行くのよ。
祐也、行くわよ」
「準備は出来ています」
裕也は、玄関に向かった。
「出発」
裕也は、意気込んだ。
祐也は、外に出るものと思っていたが、エディケは、娘と手をつなぎ地下への階段を降り始めた。
裕也も急いで後を追う。
エディケは、地下にある扉の前のキャンドルをとり扉を開け中に入った。
祐也もそれに続いた。
「あ、次元が変わった」
（それは、アメリカに在った井戸やソースへの入り口と同じだ）
祐也は、思った。
エディケは、３０分くらい地下道を歩いた。
足元は、石畳で古くからあるようにも思えた。
渇いていて清掃されている。
地下道の先が明るく見えてきた。
明るい日差しの入るドームに出た。
５本の石の柱に支えられている。
真ん中には、厚手の絨毯(じゅうたん)が敷いてあり、
数人の僧が瞑想している。
「おはようございます」
エディケは、元気よく挨拶する。
僧侶は、瞑(つぶ)っていた目を開け、「おはようございます」と言った。
「瞑想のじゃましたね」
裕也は、ばつが悪そうに言う。
「挨拶の方が大切です。『祈りの間』じゃないし」
エディケは、率直に言う。
「私も、そう思います」
裕也も挨拶の方が大切だと思った。
階段を上がる。
幾つかの部屋が見える。祈りと法説の部屋である。声が聞こえる。
「アジェスタさんは、どこですか？」
裕也は、もうそろそろ手紙の主に会えるかとエディケに尋ねてみる。
右端の部屋の前に人影が見える。
「あちらに見える方です」
エディケは、大役が果たせたと嬉しそうに言う。
「祐也、こっちです。
よく来てくれました」
アジェスタは、裕也をハグした。
「私は、夢で主は、争わない。と聞きました。
その真意を確かめに来たのです」
裕也は、自分がここに来た目的を述べた。
「それを知るのは難しい。
祐也、どうぞお入りください。
エディケ、案内、ご苦労様でした」
エディケは、祐也と分かれて、祈りの部屋に入って行った。
