The Aviator

I caught a movie this afternoon with Nuk-Nuk.

The movie we saw today was The Aviator.
Leonard DiCaprio and many other renowned actors were in it. It was based on a true story about a millionaire who splurged on movies to make and new aeroplanes people had ever made.

OK, let me get to the bottom line first.
I will give it a thumb up.
I found it thought-provoking because I saw myself in the leading role who was struggling to deal with his passion and phobia.

His name was Howard Hughes. He was gifted that his ideas welled up endlessly and couldn't stop himself from inventing things. Luckily, or I should say unluckily, he had more than enough fortune to do what he wanted. He spent millions of dollars on making spectacle movies and new aeroplanes.
In the meanwhile, he was obsessed with being clean. His paranoia stemmed from his childhood but I won't tell you the detail. He was always feeling unsafe so that he protected himself from everything that could harm him. From nasty germs to people who may come and trick him.

I liked it when he anyhow got over some kind of panic syndrome and successfully made it a huge airplane fly off the sea surface.
I am also paranoid but struggling to hit it off with people. His success brought me the light to spot my future.

I also appreciated the beautiful yet sensible women he loved. Of course, the women loved him back. Only he was so enthusiastic about his dream that a woman named Kate eventually had no way but leaving him, and the other woman called Ava didn't even get into him. Both gently took care of him though. I think Howard was consoled pretty well.

Kate Beckinsale was playing as Ava. She is one of my favorite actors. Her beauty is just flawless !! Have you seen Van Helsing? What about Underworld? Both movies are gothic horror, vampire movie.
Anyway,

The director seemed to want to illustrate Howard Hughes' biography from the both aspects of his actual accomplishments and psychological suffers. That, according to Nuk-Nuk, made the story-line ambiguous. I agreed with her.
But, all in all, it was a good movie.

started going U of T. The class seemed nice.

Since I saw "how to lose...," I was totally hooked up w/ its ending song "Weight of the World" by Chantal Kreviazuk. Such a lovely song. She is Canadian!

I went to HMV to get CD before the class. Also, I bought "Love Actually ($9.99)" & "Tomb Raider ($7.99!!)," so will pass them to you later on.

It is wonderful that you speak some Mandarin!

Teach me something! Could you??

I didn't know the song when I first picked it up on the radio. It is catchy and I liked it too. It was totally a coincidence that I picked the DVD. At the end of the movie, it rang a bell and I was like "Oh, that's it!"

So you got Chantal Kreviazuk's album, right?

Well..., I didn't know such a singer existed but, can you lend me the CD too along with the DVDs? I am not in a hurry. Pass me when you get tired of watching them.

Oh, don't forget 陰陽師!
