Christmas dinner

2012-12-25 | what's up?

December 22, 2012

I woke up this morning and looked out of the window, it was snowing.

I was supposed to be happy because it was going to be a Chrismas dinner this evening. You know, Christmas should always come with snow.  People like it. But actually, what came to me at the moment was like, "uh, oh...,"  because the restaurant for the dinner was way far from my house. I have got to take a train for an hour and walk 20 minutes. When it snows it is quite hard to get there ...

Anyway, it turned out to go well. No delay in train and no snow at all in the town where the restaurant was. No need to say, "uh,oh" eventually.

I have monthly get-together with 4 of my best friends as I have always posted here. The Christmas dinner was a part of it. Unfortunately 2 couldn't make it to come though, it was quite a beautiful night. It is so nice for me to have a girl's talk!

You want to ask about Christmas dinner with Yoshi, my husband?  Well ... He is not a romantic kind of guy so we just had Sukiyaki at home. No presents.

housewarming party

2012-11-26 | what's up?

Nov 26, 2012

It was a lovely sunny day, excellent day for visiting my friend's new house!

I have 5 close friends who have been together for more than 5 years. We have monthly dinner out. A lot of stuff has happened through the period. one of us got married, two had kids. Some changed a job and sometimes between jobs.  Two including me moved in a new house. And now the third one moved in a very brand new one! Today, she invited us to show it!

It was a beautiful house. It has two stories with specious rooms. The ceiling is higher than one in regular houses because her husband is as tall as 190 cm. The wall paper is pleasantly white. The casings of the doors and the windows and the banister are in walnut. The contrast of white and walnut gave us chic impression. Good color choice!

At the party, we brought some food each. I made Tirami Su with chestnut as dessert. The host made us tomato pasta and salad with proschiuto. One brought croquettas and veggie soup. Another made Korean fried vegetables. The other made healthy chocolate brownies.

We had chat in the whole afternoon. It was really fun!

We gave her a clock and a pot of Benjamin tree as housewarming gifts.

Hopefully she and her family will like them!

This was another major life event for us. I hope we will share more and more happy events together. And also I hope our friendship will go on for a long time.

report

Hi,

... Whoa, it is really like a long-foggoten treasure. I finally logged in for the first time in 6 months according to the last posted date.

... Actually, I thought it had been more than a year. Phew, it wasn't that bad, wasn't it?  Heh, heh..

What I have been through in the past 6 months was not at all interesting for you I guess, but, ... well it is, I am so convinced, what blog is all about, so I will report it breafly.

First of all, I keep learning Spanish up until now. Yey!  Am I fluent? NO! (:-p)

Secondly, I quit my part-time job. Hmm... I worked there for over 3 years, the you-know-what cafe... ! It was fun working there. I really liked it. Why I quit? It is hard to explain... Several reasons but it is so complecated.  ----Or was it myself who made it complicated? (No, I don't think sooooooo! I don't want to think so!!) ---- I don't understand what was exactly happening. I only know for sure that things went wrong and I quit. I tried very hard to make it back on the right track but it didn't turn out successful. I came to realize it was unrepairable so I quit.

I never imagined I would see the day when I quit a job with such a silly and stupid reason...

I feel OK now. I feel like I am set free in a way.

Only between us, OK? I wish I could divorce so I would perfectly be free! ........ JOKING!!! Heh, heh! FOR NOW! Ha-ha!

Thirdly, my Jack, the lovely shiba-mix dog is doing great!

I am happy to report here!

He has had a weak stomach. He suffered severe diarrhea that his intestinal wall got inflamed and its tissue came off. I panicked when I saw the pinkish jelly like tissue came out of Jack when he did poo. He had been very ill for months and at the time he lost quite a bit of weight. I was horrified. I imagined the worst case.  Ah, that feeling.. I never want to feel the same any more!

Anyway, his personal vet introduced the right food to us. His diarrhea miraculously stopped right next morning.

He healthily put on weight. Now he weighs 12.4 kg, having increased from 9.8 kg when he was ill. I feel so secure now because Jack smiles a lot more!

That's most of it I report for now, I guess.

Hopefully, I will post about more exciting events!

learning Spanish is fun

2012-03-20 | what's up?

Mar 20, 2012

It has been almost a year since I started to learn Spanish. Is it about time to post something in Spanish here? Heh, heh.

We have been through basic Spanish grammar so far.  ... At this moment I am not really mastering it but only I know it as a knowledge. Hope I will be fluent soon!

We finished 2 textbooks. The 3rd one is about Subjunctive mood, which is said to be quite notorious as a complicated part of Spanish grammar to understand.  Using this mood, they explain something not for real, for instance something you want, doubt,  and someone you want to make do and etc.   ... Yeah, right.  Along with the verb conjugation, it is actually formidable.

What I should do now is to increase as much vocabulary as possible and to get used to it. Also I need to have my ears and brain used to Spanish so Spanish sentences will come out of my mouth at right moment and timing in conversation!  Hmm ... I find it challenging but it is so fun and exciting! I like it!!

unexpected

2012-03-17 | what's up?

Someone asked me, 'why do you study Spanish, in order to show off?'

Huh?

'... No, not for showing off. That is because I find it exciting when I understand what the foreign people say. Also I want to understand movies, books and TV shows without translation...'  so I answered.  Isn't this a simple answer anybody could have, is it? I was a little open-mouthed inwardly.

Why does he think I am studying it only because I want to show off the fluency???Who wants to do such time-consuming, nerve-racking work for only SHOWING OFF????? Is it, by any chance, the primary reason for him to make efforts in?Even so, that's OK for me but ... I was surprised because his asking was just unexpected for me!
