bee hive

2013-01-23 | what's up?

January 23, 2013

I went to a cafe called 美ら時間(ちゅらじかん)with my neighbor. In order for Okinawan cuisine for lunch. The other reason why we went there was to be tought how to make bee hive.

I don't think I posted here about the Japanese bees. They made a hive in the roof of my house last summer. I was thinking I would kill them for the first time. One day I went to the cafe and happened to talked to the owner. He is really into Japanese bees to keep. In his yard a couple of cute looking bee hives sat buzzing inside. I told him that the same bees lived in the roof. He immediately asked me if I could put one of his empty beehives in my backyard so in spring newly born queen bee would move in. I said ""OK".

He also recommended for me to make a bee hive. I was not sure if I could at the time but the neighbor, who was also there too, was really interested in it. She is a crafter and dreamed to make candles using bees wax.So I am on it too.

Hopefully we will make a wonderful bee hive which bees really like to live!

elders and betters

January 10,2013

I invited my neighbors for a morning tea. They own a villa next to my house so they are temporary neighbors acutually. It's always good to have a conversation with people. Especially with elders and betters. Generally they show me nice behaviour that I could follow.

In this afternoon I will see another bunch of nice elders. It is the first Spanish class this year! Hopefully I will be fluent in Spanish by the end of 2013. This is one of my new year resolutions.

happy new year

Happy new year, people!

Have you made a good start for Year 2013?

As always, I had new year count-down at Yoshi's parents' place. To be exact, I didn't count down. I was so tired that I went to bed around 10 pm. We took a family trip to Shikoku Is. from 29 to 31 December. It took over 5 hours to get back his parents' house in Osaka. I was behind the wheel for a long time so...

It was really a nice trip.

Day 1 we went to Kompira-san shinto shrines in Kagawa. There were long steps made of stone to the shrines and people climbed with great efforts holding a wooden cane to sustain themselves. What was the good point of it was Dogs Allowed! Yes, Jack was of course with us. He climbed the steps too. In Edo era, if my memory is correct, there was no sight-seeing in Japan. Pilgrimage to Kompira shrines was one of peoples' dream in life. Some weren't afford to take off so instead they sent a dog. Other pilgrims took the dog with them so the dog would safely made it to the shrine and got a talisman. I found it so cute the dog carrying some old coins for the offering to the shrine and the food for it on the way and back.

Day 2 we headed to Ehime where Dougo hot spa was. In there there was the oldest hot spa facility in Japan called Dougo Onsen Honkan. It was built in Meigi era and the famous author Soseki Natsume wrote a novel "Bocchan" set in Dougo. ... I have never read it. I think I should!

We came back to Yamanashi on Jan 2.
