これがホントの"ダ・ヴィンチ”コード”!?

2006-07-12 | English Diary

You know, I read "Da Vinci Code" written by Dan Brown now. And I read it in the train in the morning as usual. Then suddenly I found very interesting thing!

That is

There is a word "SOS" instead of "155" on page number155 which is the starting page on Chapter 33!

At first sight, I was so surprised because I thought I had already read 505pages! (Have you ever read the number "505" as "SOS"?) I don't understand the printing company did such a mistake. So, after getting at my university, I searched internet and looked for another information.

I found there are some people realizing it, and they argured about it. Someone said,

A Christian Saint by the name of Tertullian was born c.155 AD. The man was strongly against sexuality and the feminine, and said things like, "You, woman, are the devil's gateway," or, "You are the unsealer of that forbidden tree. You destroyed so easily God's image-man." He was also against the work called "Song of Songs" (or SOS) which talked of the goodness of sexuality and pleasure.

But, it is only one of the possibilities. And if the reason true, I wonder why the author (or printing company!?) chose the year that he was born. However, this is also the only reason I could find. There is the other aspect that is that it doesn't relate to the pege number but the chapter number. Because some other person found the character "SOS" on the page 144 and it is also starting page on Chapter 33 because this person's edition is different from ours. Umm, it's mysterious!

Furthermore, I found another "code(?)" hidden on the page number. I couldn't find it when I read it because I haven't read this page yet. That is

"***" (but 3, 5-pointed stars, not asterisks) appears on page 322.
The finder also said "in different chapters in both size editions that I have. So, the page number is relevant, while the chapter is not."

Da Vinci Code makes us so excitied! If you have a chance, why don't you try it? Or even if you have no time to read, how about seaching these pages with browzing??
By the way, I don't know how the Japanese edition is. Do you know what the Japanese one is going on?
